All set for a ‘juicy’ courtroom battle later in the year.

You can be freelance but still pay tax like you an employee.

Indeed, my wife works as a freelance in the tv industry and pays tax on a paye basis. Gary chooses not to, and funnels all his income through a company set up some years ago with his then wife. My understanding is he has already paid a multimillion pound back payment to the IR and the courtroom case will be hearing his appeal.

Des Lynam would be a sensational choice. (Yes, I’m only joking).

BBC Sport are going to quite a substantial proverbal picket line on their hands at this rate

The only A-tier BBC Sport presenter whose name I've not seen come up yet amidst the chaos tonight is Gabby Logan - if they could get someone else in place to do the Six Nations in Edinburgh on Sunday, could she present what will likely be a bare bones MOTD tomorrow night?

Unless a climbdown I guess it will have to be highlights only. I presume the commentators are going to turn up!?

I am not sure Gaby Logan would want to swap hosting live rugby for Match of the Day highlights with some random pundits.

The 'This Is Not News!!' retort when things like this happen is always really frustrating and boring for the wider conversation. Surely we all know by now how the news agenda works, a myriad of topics become top stories for varied and complicated reasons - not just based on how worthy they are.

This is pretty amusing to watch people refuse to present the show. The BBC deserve everything they are getting here.

So... was never meant to be part of it. Tweets to confirm that... he still won't be part of it. Seems like an utterly meaningless bandwagon-jumping tweet.

On this basis, I'd just like to take this opportunity to confirm that I too, was not originally planned to be part of the presenting team of Match Of The Day tomorrow, and I am steadfast that I will continue to have no involvement in its production.

And finding someone for the rugby could cause a similar issue. And live coverage of a major event is more important than highlights particularly as they are no massive matches on paper tomorrow (Both the televised ones for example are lower half vs bigger team).

It might have been just to stop people asking him.
