Yeah, it varies from week to week, but the programme can often take world feed commentaries. Naturally the live BBC game's commentary is used. There is often one or two bespoke commentaries (usually on the Sky games), then the remainder games either have shorter edits featuring world feed commentary or a round-up report. They can utilise the world feed for the Sky games too, most of the commentators used on bespoke commentaries are interchangeable with the world feed really (Mark Scott the only MOTD regular I can remember doing a highlights-only commentary recently).

In the previous rights cycle, every match had an edit with the world feed commentary, bar the games that were live on the BBC Red Button or BT Sport, where those commentaries were used. The show was also a bit shorter then, so this week's 
edition was more similar to that - especially in length - minus a presenter and pundit linking into the highlights.

Gary Lineker is a prominent BBC face, presenting MOTD and live football coverage on the BBC. He is representing the brand.

This is not the case for Neil Oliver and Alan Sugar - they are appearing on documentary/entertainment programming. Nobody hears those two names and immediately thinks 'BBC'. And most people watching 'Coast' this afternoon probably don't even have a clue that Neil now works on GBN.

Agree with insights into Coast but I think it might be appropriate to compare Lineker with Alan Sugar (and Andrew Neil).

It’s difficult to define who’s representing the BBC - as a freelancer, Gary Lineker was also a prominent talent of BT Sport with his Champions League coverage, until 2021.

Same as Alex Scott and Gabby Logan, both present sport coverage and SPOTY, but also have important roles on the BBC’s competitors.

Aren't there? I disagree. 

Freedom of speech is a clear winner. 
Lineker is a winner.
The BBC is a winner.

The government, Sharpe and Davie on the other hand...

Going forward, all non-news presenters will be able to say what their opinion is and that is how it should be. Unless the BBC imposes the same rules on all (which it can't for a number of reasons) - therefore it is a win-win situation.
