I feel like ITV have done a poor job about telling people that CITV’s closing. There’s no promo or graphic telling people it’s being shuttered and the ITVX Kids promo barely mentions CITV. I know that they hardly give that much of a hoot about the channel as it's been stuck on automation for ages but I still think you should at least tell people the channel's closing without it being on some random news site.

Worth noting Sky have gone the other way, launching a linear version of Sky Kids after a few years as a purely on demand service.

I think the big issue for ITV and CBBC should plans to close that go through is even as viewers habits change it's linear TV which is often the biggest advertiser of the online content, even if they effectively become lossleaders.

I don't really understand what you mean by a loss leader in the context of BBC programming in the UK. Their problem is very different from ITVs, which in turn is an entirely different scenario to Sky's.

BBC need to cut costs in a way which minimises disruption.

ITV need to make money, and one presumes CITV as a linear presence is a risk to that.

Sky need to make money too, but for them the above (and moreso their non-FTA vendors who add or previously added value to Sky's packages) is a risk which they are partly mitigating by launching a bunch of their own linear outlets.

They are, my kids have discovered lots of programmes on linear and then gone and seemed them out on iPlayer. 

I would have thought that if CBBC does close that they'll still put some of their programmes on BBC Two. Not having any children's content on free to air TV will not be a very popular or wise thing. Especially for flagship brands like Blue Peter

Sky Kids pretty much exists to replace Disney Junior after Disney closed all three of their channels, right? Pretty sure it launched around the same time they went.

It might be felt as a replacement, but absolutely not.

Sky Kids launched much later than the Disney channels' shutdown
