I actually like this new rebrand as well. The BBC have done a really good job here with CBeebies and CBBC. The idents to me look new, fresh and exciting. Fair play to them.

RE: New CBBC/CBeebies Presentation - Blubatt - 15-03-2023

CBBC's new look feels like an updated, more kinetic rehash of the 1997 look, which seems to be the consensus. Having not watched CBBC for a long time now, I have to say I would like these idents, if I was a 10 year old again. I really like the colours and the energy they exude, and I really admire how they use the blocks to make the colourful antics occur on screen. I don't see why they didn't keep the old CBBC logo underneath. I think the abstract symbol would have worked better than a wordmark, imo.

The Cbeebies look is gorgeous. Its a great evolution of the blobs, and using three of them to form the BBC logo is fantastic. Once again, I am not in that age range, but if I was 5 again, I would probably be confused by the complete change in style and look. They're well made replacements, but as others have said, children and change are a fickle combination: Too much change at once can be too much. Im not saying that they should have made some transitional idents with the new BBC logo, and the old blobs would completely solve the issue, but it is a sudden change for some.

The Trial with a expanded Saturday Morning slot was originally for 8 weeks last September but it must have been successful as it's still going now.

The CBBC on BBC2 strand on Saturday mornings has been running for around 5 years now I think, it was around the time that Saturday Mash-Up started.

I urge you to search for almost anything ident related in YouTube and see what happens(!) Or just say the words “The Gallery” three times - they’ll appear.

That’s not in a backhanded way either - it’s still a niche, but it’s interesting to see how much of a sort of “fandom” it has become with the younger ones. There’s a massive following for it.

Really winds me up when TV companies and indeed many advertisers do this now rather than just give you the web address.

Judging by how most international channels from BBC Studios are still using the Gill Sans era block logo, it'll probably take about ten years for the international editions to be Reithed...

To be expected given how long it's taken for this to role out on BBC in the UK and these are only launching here around a year and a half after the on screen rebrand began.

Im not that keen on CBBC branding it likes pop or something. HOWEVER if the kids like it, I would be nice to hear views from kids then who are we to judge?
Didn't the top age of CBBC sneak up in recent years?

Yes, it's pretty early in the morning though and I don't think uses any CBBC presentation (they use the more child friendly curves idents). Of course it's many years since the BBC's own reports into their childrens TV said it should be reinstated on BBC1 on Saturday mornings, but I think as things stand Saturday Kitchen will outlive the Six o'clock News, One Show and Countryfile.

Really like what I've seen throughout the day, I think both channels are an improvement.

Not that I've kept a close eye on CBeebies for quite some time, but the new blobs work really well in my eyes, even in the short amount of time this new look has been on-air, I do feel like the old style feels old. And as I've gone throughout the day, I'm understanding CBBC a little bit more, the initial ident looked to be the more simplistic of the bunch, so I didn't get the concept to begin with, though I like the BBC Two curve style effect where the animation of the square tubes carries over to create another 'seamless' element between trailers.

Is news and Parliament coming when the news channel changes are completed

Is it just me or are the BBC blocks a bit bouncier in the normal elements too? That's a nice touch.

Yeah, surprised that nobody got around in talking about that till now. It is a bit bouncier, and you're right, it really is a nice touch.

Watching more of this presentation again with my two boys this morning, it is just brilliantly done. By far the most coordinated and coherent execution of the new branding. Do we know who's done the rebrand - is it an agency or BBC Creative?
