RE: New CBBC/CBeebies Presentation - CATV - 16-03-2023

I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. CBeebies for the most part is lovely. I think they could have gone with more of a hybrid so when the blug/block is in the air moving it takes bug form but when it lands it's in block form. That way it might have blend the two together. I am also not keen on the colours of the gradient. But I do like the rebrand overall and as said the animations are lovely.

CBBC I am totally shock by because I didn't think they would put so much effort into it. I like it and it's good it doesn't look babyish. The only thing that let's it down is the logo. Shame they could angle it and give it some charcter like CBeebies. Also don't like the SUBS, NEW and LIVE boxes on screen. Looks messy. I can see these CBBC idents be repackaged as BBC Kids for the global channel at some point.

Worth the wait and well done to all involved.

P.S. In the afternoons on CBeebies there was a ident that formed on a drawing board. Does anyone know what it said? Trying to work out the different blocks of programs.

Which member of this community works at CBBC, then?

Not surprised, as the BBC is one of the only public broadcasters in Europe that actually gives an flying caravan about their identity. Not that I’m shaming them, though, because that’s something that I actually tend to love.

Reading the comments - its evident that most children don't really like the new logo. I'll quote some:

''The new logo is to simplified and boring''
''The new logo is so boring! I wish it was more interesting!''
and ''The 2023+ one could be better in my opinion.''

So, we have a general idea on how children rate the rebrand.

Seems like the answers to these questions are:- Yes, yes, no and no.

At least the text is more legible for that one girl on the third image Smile

That's quite tricky for those of us who have lived through them all, never mind the kids of today.

My take on the rebrands...

CBeebies... Top notch.
It's a shame that the 20 year old branding has been scrapped, especially given it still looked good today as it did then. But the rebrand provides natural progression between the old pres and the current BBC rebrand. And at least the bugs are still there, even if they're looking more cuboid in nature.

CBBC on the other hand? I'm not so sure.
It's professional I'll give you that, but I'm not sure it represents the identity of CBBC as it is now. In part it looks too corporate and grown up with the nonsensical tubes (can we call them that?) providing the blocks aspect. As other people have says, it looks like BBC Two and BBC Three mashed together with a hint of early 00's BBC Choice.
But in other parts they seem a bit too childish for the target ages with the fart sound effects and slightly too young sounding kids shouting CBBC.
And the sweet spot in the middle to hit the typical CBBC viewing age doesn't quite gel for me.

Not least because if you're reading the idents like the main channels, it reads BBC CBBC. Not sure it hits it for me but they do look well made at the very least.
