Let Us Know What You Think About Pres Café -
Admin PC - 31-07-2022
Obviously it's very early days and there's been a fairly quick turnaround on this venture.
We're keen to hear what you think - what works, what doesn't. Suggestions for improvement etc.
We'll take the feedback on board and will do our best to improve the experience.
You'll notice that there is more emphasis on presentation-related discussion. However, there is still room for more general conversation.
One of the main changes is the addition of radio presentation and programme discussion.
The Gallery and Requests forums - featured on TV Forum and TV Live Forum - are not part of our forum line-up. There are currently no plans to include that content on Pres Café.

It's a nice forum, but it doesn't feel the same without the gallery. Can you try bringing it back?

Just want to take a moment to say that Pres Cafe is looking good, and to wish all those involved with the forum the very best of luck!
All the best.

That's a shame, I do think there are some great mockers on the forum and it'd be a great way to get those creative juices flowing.
Looking good though, can't wait to see where things go.

We are aware of the issue with marking all posts in the forum as being read — it's on the list.

It feels a little cold. Perhaps that'll change as the boards fill out - a huge amount of empty threads doesn't help I feel.
I also fully respect that you've chosen to not use your real/normal identities but maybe you could consider coming up with something a little less distant and formal than simply 'admin', 'mod 1' etc. Just the name of a broadcaster or something, anything so when you're referred to on the board your members can do so without the formality of effectively a job title.

Is there any chance of a multi view type page? I always find that easiest to just have an overall look at what’s new?

Yeah. However it was opportunity for mockers to post an recreation of broadcaster's branding. I plan to post BBC Studios Home Entertainment mock ident here, however it doesn't. I should do it in TVTalk Forum instead.

You're right when you say that this was a very quick turnaround, but you've covered a lot of the basics. What I feel is missing at the moment is a sense of, for lack of a better word, closeness. Would the admin and mods consider changing to custom usernames. I feel like its a bit utilitarian. I also think you should have let the users create some more of the threads. I feel that helps build a community if the users add the threads to the forum. Of course you'll be able to vet and remove/merge ones that go nowhere, but I feel like this will help foster some natural activity.
I am going to be contrarian as well, and I kind of agree with not having a 'Gallery'. I feel like those things really petered out on the old forums, but again, you miss those community interactions by not having the opportunity to feedback.
All in all, solid new forum though. I am looking forward to contributing on it. Kudos to the team for working really hard to get it going.
