RE: Talk TV - lepeterrr - 11-10-2022

I think we can read a bit into the figures that it wasn't the best day, but what I was trying to say is I don't think we can immediately jump to conclusions on the future as today for all we know might be more.

Comparison of audiences between GB News / Talk TV.

I think the biggest surprise is how well Steyne does against Piers Morgan when you consider the profile of them both.

RE: Talk TV - London Lite - 11-10-2022

If News UK didn't keep making decisions whether to launch a tv channel or not, it may have been a different story for TalkTV, but they launched after GB News.

GB News finally has a small but loyal audience despite shoddy production standards because they're providing their demo exactly what they want, which is an echo chamber view of the world.

TalkTV has better production standards, but the editorial is all over the place with the radio station output providing the bulk of the output full of culture wars content and then four hours of made for tv shows which while they also cover culture wars, there's then the 1 hour where they play it straighter than the other shows.

News UK had other options where they could have had a much more rounded channel featuring content from across Wireless using Virgin, talkSPORT, Times Radio and TalkRadio output during the day instead of what is a continuation of talkRADIO TV with some tv shows tagged on in peak.

Business is business and when a channel is haemorrhaging money on a daily basis with no sign of improvement, I think we can draw a conclusion from that.

Just an hour after I post this they announce that they are taking the Piers Morgan show to New York City for a week

Just seen on the Piers Morgan repeat, that Uncensored will also be coming from Qatar during the World Cup for a week.

With Piers off to New York and Qatar, could the London Bridge based shows come from Ealing instead?

I think the biggest surprise is how well Steyne does against Piers Morgan when you consider the profile of them both.

Steyn appeals to the - I'll be blunt here - nutters. Piers does not - for all his bluster about woke and cancel culture, his views are ultimately pretty mainstream. Meanwhile Steyn spouts so much nonsense about vaccines that he is currently under investigation by Ofcom.
