RE: Talk TV - TMD_24 - 10-02-2024

TV Zone is reporting that further content is expected to be moved gradually to online only with rebrands to 'Talk' or 'The Sun TV' under consideration.

Many inaccuracies. News Corp owns half of PMU, nobody was sacked, it was a strategic shift for his format. Rest is speculation.

I agree. The article reads like something pulled together from speculation and rumour rather than any concrete sources. I doubt Sun TV is being seriously considered given that, if anything, a pivot to “Times Radio TV” would make more sense.

It’s been said before, but News UK do have enough content across their whole selection of national stations to create an interesting/different channel.

I think TalkRadio becoming the sustaining service was a pretty last minute thing? As they originally had Gordon Smart signed up to do a entertainment style show & I think it was said that Sunday Times Culture Show would feature too?

No-one should ever use TV Zone as a primary source for anything, it’s run by a fanboy who simply pulls together bits of articles he’s seen (usually without credit) and passes them off as “sources”.

The idea of The Sun TV *has* been reported by the far more credible Adam Sherwin in the i, however:

Quote:A move to rebrand Talk TV as The Sun TV, in a bid to tap into the tabloid paper’s wider audience, has also been considered.

Admin edit: if there's an implied suggestion here that "TV Zone" is an unreliable source of information, then by all means call it out. We'd discourage links to such outlets. However, we're not aware of that being the case with "TV Zone". And as such, it has as much right to be included in a post on here as many of the other publications/sources often quoted/linked to.

Times Radio sponsors the weather forecasts to add.

I don't think there is enough of an uplift in viewers to run the TV studio which originally only existed for the Piers show anyway.

Trisha's show comes from Connecticut I believe but with the fake London backdrop.

Hence why it feels juddery and drops out.

I agree about TV Zone, I don't know what it's pedigree is or who writes it, but it's not a reliable source of industry news.

However the idea that they might be thinking of turning Talk into something Sun branded isn't a new one. It's supposedly been a plan for Talk Radio for most of its existence.

I wouldn't be surprised, but I think it would be a mistake to use such a tarnished brand with so much baggage. I can't see it going down well on Liverpool's local TV station in particular!

RE: Talk TV - Stooky Bill - 11-02-2024

Oooops sorry forgot to say in last post....

There was a Sun Radio station in the 2000's, only part time and very short lived.

Citation required, as they say. Why is it not reliable?

We discourage citing sources such as Wikipedia as definitive, for obvious reasons. Does TV Zone have a reputation for providing inaccurate/misleading information?
