Well they're just mesmerising!

Wow, that video is excellent. Very much looking forward to this making it to air and how other channels in the family adapt it.

Well, it just had to be done, just in case they weren't epic enough already.

And for those who missed it the original look at the new idents is here:

The camera movement reminds me of the C3 Yorkshire idents, but done in a much more mesmerising way. Well done!

The concept is great - I'd never considered the bottom block was a cube, and that's what we'd been seeing inside already. I love the recursion too.

I think there's lots of easter eggs to be found too - I'm sure the 'McCourt's Pickled Pigeon" must be a reference to something. As Roger says, the beach scene has the date of Channel 4's launch - the time is about an hour before their first programme. (The people look a bit underdressed for a British beach in November though!)

Interestingly, the three of the places that are identifiably real are in Glasgow: Pollok House at the 2 minute mark;  the 'renaissance painting' at 2.24 (it's this takeaway in the city centre); and at 2.55, my old secondary school.

[edit]
After a bit more sleuthing, I've worked out where the graveyard is - it's Dunure Cemetery in Ayrshire. (The island of Ailsa Craig on the horizon was a good clue that it was somewhere down the Firth of Clyde.)

Funnily enough that was my first thought as well, but thankfully the similarity ends there.

This looks like an absolutely brilliant package of idents. After seeing C4’s decidedly underwhelming moving coloured boxes ident, along with ITV’s current rather pedestrian look and BBC One’s dull Lens idents, I really thought we’d seen the end of impressive, creative idents and presentation as broadcasters focus on their streaming services over linear channels. Thankfully Channel 4 have proven me wrong.

This looks set to be a magnificent set of idents. It feels good finally to have some presentation to get excited about!

To be fair, I like the Lens - I do agree it paled before C4's new sets, though Big Grin

Wow! I can see exactly why it's been staggered, must have cost a hell of a lot of marketing budget! But it's so flexible and the concepts and tweaks for stunts are endless. Definitely a successor to 2004-2015 look.

Like Spencer said, I really was worried that we were now in a presentation era where channels were starting to not really give a toss about it and were moving more in favour of simple Netflix-esque bumpers.

I really am so delighted at this, I can’t say it enough. I hope it breathes new life into UK presentation - I feel like a few of the other channels are now going to feel a bit sorry for themselves because of how much their on-air looks pale in comparison.

They don’t have the compete package yet to be that obnoxious. The idents are great but for as long as the rest of the package is around no other channels need “feel sorry for themselves.”
