Channel 4 now pushing 'Partygate' on its idents - https://www.tvhome.co.uk/channel-4/2023/09/28/2100

See all of Thursdays programmes on the EPG across all C4 stations have had the hashtag #NationalPoetryDay added. As such all the programme descriptions are rather short - and don't rhyme!

Hopefully they have a bit more fun with continuity than just sticking the hashtag on screen - and perhaps give the piece that launched these idents another outing.

I think they have done
Those billings as examples
Of the haiku form

I would love to see
The announcers introduce
Programmes in haiku form

Well spotted by you
Some are better than others
Prefer ones that rhyme.

Choosing the haiku
Of all poetry styles
Is so Channel 4

Haikus are rubbish. If you have to count  the syllables in each line and check if it conforms to some arbitrary standard before you even know it's a poem then that's too much work and no one can possibly enjoy it. Make it rhyme or don't bother, and I'd happily say that to the 17th century Japanese and Channel 4 equally.

I watched Partygate on Tuesday evening. The graphics promoting 'support' and Googlebox covered some of the credits. Did the production company not stick to Channel 4 credit guidelines or did Channel 4 mess up by overlapping graphics on a programme they shouldn't have?

At the end, when captions appeared telling us a little more about the parties in 10 Downing Street and how we came to know about them, the caption praised the Daily Mirror for breaking one of the stories but the audio description gentleman read it as Daily Mail.

What do you make of that?
#C4Partygate

Didn't watch Partygate but have noticed generally they seem to prefer using the ECP strap at the bottom rather than the right hand side which often does block the credits unless they are scrolling. They don't seem able to squeeze the picture up (which would look awful but solve the issue) either.

That wouldn't of been the first time something similar to that has happened.

When C4 were using alternative introductions into The Simpsons from 2011—2013 (the mispronounciations of The Simpsons including a ridiculous  'Skiddily-biddly dowop-o-donsons by Pete Nottage on 22/12/2011, the 'I'm dressed as' introductions), the final in this series was a haiku read by the CA before The Simpsons.

I guess I was correct about the announcers introducing shows in poetry form.

Here's the first poem for Countdown at 6 this morning. I would like to see how the rest of the Channel 4 family have celebrated National Poetry Day. Even the "Trending on Channel 4" promo is in the style of a poem.
