Needless to say Phil’s departure was also discussed at length on Have I Got News For You, obviously not accounting for tonight’s news.

Supposedly, but a lot of those who knew what had happened got details, and legalities wrong.... just look at what he was said to have done according to a guest on GB News last weekend.

This is going to run and run, and likely will become a major scandal for ITV once the spotlight is moved onto management.

I would be very surprised if This Morning is on air next week

"And we will be back with Good Morning Britain which continues after Lorraine."

It will run and run but I don’t see any reason why This Morning won’t continue, unless the hosts refuse

I think Holly proves an issue now. Since 2009, This Morning has been Phil and Holly - you see Holly on This Morning and you automatically think of Phil.

If ITV want to distance themselves from the whole affair, it's hard for me to see how they can do that if they opt for the 'business as usual' approach of keeping Holly and just pairing her with someone else.

I think it'll be an interesting few weeks and months ahead.

I think the reason why this poses a risk to the show as a whole is the accusations by some that ITV staff were aware of what was going on. Unlike cases such as John Leslie, where his behaviour outside of the show had come under question, it's entirely possible that any cover up that may or may not have happened could damage the brand as a whole, as well as ITV.

ITV Statement, clearly not happy with Philip's admissions.

What would they replace it with. Particularly as it would also sort of affect loose women and maybe even Lorraine and GMB.

Even before this news, I'm surprised the social media teams seemingly haven't updated their profile pictures and descriptions to remove references to Philip yet
