This, from Feb 2020, is a bit of a strange interaction to be having then with the man whose actions allegedly had led to him leaving ITV just a couple months earlier.

I imagine his type of mean spirited showbiz gossip on Lorraine just fell out of favour, and people preferred a light fluff style of showbiz gossip.

There is probably a reason why Wootton was short lived but Ross King has been dishing out Hollywood gossip for about 30 years on the programme

I always had the feeling Dan's personality is toxic - if he agrees with you, and you agree with him, then he is your best friend - however if you disagree with him on anything, he will turn against you as fast as the speed of light.

Watch him with his "All Star Panel" on his show and we see evidence of this. Also with his interviews. If the guest agrees with Dan, he turns into a slimey sycophant. If you disagree, then get ready for him to pour a bucket of pig swill on to your argument.

That attitude I believe he has with everyone he encounters, and ITV felt it was an attitude they didn't like.

I remember Dan being a brown nose sycophant on Lorraine and being more fake than Phil and Holly were during the last couple of years.

I highly doubt they will axe it, they'd be stupid to quite frankly. They've got plenty of people in the pipeline who could transform the show and bring it back from it's current state. It's some of the management who need to go not the show.

Dan has been a man who for many years has kissed up to celebrities ranging from boybands of Westlife, Take That and One Direction to soap stars and presenters. He loved it. As soon as he was dumped by ITV, then his attitude changed.

He went to host on what was talkRADIO and is now Talk TV around 2018, so I feel the writing was on the wall for him by 2018, and when he went to talkRADIO, we suddenly got the right winger we see now on GB "News".

ITV's response to the Sunday People headline

Meanwhile the Sun are reporting that Alison Hammond and Rochelle Humes could be on resignation watch

"The Sun on Sunday can reveal one household name has drafted a resignation statement in the wake of Schofield’s admission that he lied about an affair with a much younger male employee.

Senior producers now fear an exodus of regular presenters from the roster, which includes Rochelle Humes and Alison Hammond."

The article also adds that “The future of the show is hanging by a thread and the presenting talent are unsure of their next move - they’re deciding whether to leap from a sinking ship.

“The whole This Morning senior team is in complete damage-limitation mode worrying about the presenters who might walk away.

The Mirror and People must be confident to say Axe rather a headline saying the show’s future is in doubt and that people might quit.  (Which is what the Sun are saying.)

RE: Philip Schofield steps down from This Morning with immediate effect - Andrew - 27-05-2023

We’d need to see what is on the Sunday People’s pages 2, 3, 3, 5 to see what they were putting behind that headline

Possibly one of those made up stories like when Loose Women is cancelled, but it’s only for one day due to horse racing

And similarly, a ‘household name threatening to quit’ is assumed to be a presenter the way it is written but is probably an obscure contributor who appears once every few weeks.
