They certainly make savings in the costume department.

You have to wonder if Alex Mahon and Ian Katz will end up being replaced?

Maybe the incoming commissioner will treat themselves to a pair of socks.

C4 have responded to reports to advise that Naked Attraction has not been cancelled, just cut from 2 to 1 series a year:

I am guessing this is the reason why shows like The Circle & The Traitors split the production cost across the UK and US versions? If so, is this just a bad business decision by C4 to have not secured a deal like this and just suck up the cost of Rise & Fall themselves?
No £14m sounds about right. Perhaps even on the lower side for a show of that scale in its first series.

Not bad business if they can’t find an international production partner. A lot of stars have to align for that to work out and only a handful of shows in this genre have been commissioned like that. I think Rise and Fall was part of C4’s Global Formats Fund so they will get some of the income from any international format sales which they don’t normally get, though I can’t imagine it will sell anywhere after flopping in the UK.

Think I've read each (half) episode takes about 6 hours to film.   Still probably get a 6-part series done in a week.

E4 now tends to default to Gogglebox, Naked Attraction and First Dates in weeks it isn't airing new content so those shows are valuable to C4 beyond their first airing.

It looks like the move to Leeds has unsurprising been a big financial mistake. For some reason they are using three different buildings in the city, the flashy main offices in city square, an old bar near the canal for the Steph Show, and another converted office for Channel four news. Why didnt they just adapt one building for the whole business. The Steph show seems a total waste of time and money, audience seems to be 100/150k,and not moved since the day it started.

RE: C4 Programme Commissioning Woes - Brekkie - 11-06-2023

Although given how TV audiences have fallen quite dramatically across the board over the last 2-3 years perhaps having an audience now not too different when they launched isn't as bad a result as it might first appear. I do think having a live show within the schedule does lift any stations schedule. Not sure the recent extension to start half an hour earlier is hugely beneficial though.

They don't have three buildings. Steph Show & Channel 4 News are not made by Channel 4.

Don’t know why they didn’t just use the excellent facilities in Salford like everyone else.
