On the contrary the fact it only happens a handful of times per year, probably justifies the millions saved.

I mean, not having them saves a ton of money (even more significant now in the HD era) and in exchange all they have to compromise on is occasionally moving things like tennis to 2 to let regional content go out on 1 when they’d rather not… No excuse for not doing that IMO.

(I’m I say that while watching Murray - but I’d have been able to press ‘2’ and do that either way).

Meanwhile Today at Wimbledon will be at 11.15pm once again on BBC 2 with the Cricket highlights which have already been broadcast on BBC 4 bumped to 12.15 am.

I thought it was discussed over on the blue place that it is possible to regionally opt on 2...

But they need to send BBC 2 over the BBC 1 network chain and vice-versa. And that it requires retunes, so they haven't bothered with it.

There we are, play is finished for the evening.

It may well be theoretically possible to effectively swap the underlying feeds of 1 and 2 around, but it certainly isn’t possible in practice.

Question Time trailer not giving a time, simply saying "After the News" there.

Will be interesting to see what they do as they approach 18:00, if Murray vs Tsitsipas is still going on BBC One with Norrie vs Eubanks on BBC Two and Broady vs Shapovalov on the red button channel.

Guess they could shift the news back by half an hour, move The One Show to 19:30 and drop Beechgrove Garden on BBC Two (due to air at 19:30)?

I'd think it's almost guaranteed Murray won't be shifted off One at this point.
