It's a little bit odd in the fact that Cat only appeared once or twice previously on This Morning and with a completely different presenter.

You would hope there would have been screen testing given This Morning's track record of replacing a much-loved duo with an axed-before-the-week-was-over duo.

It seems clever to launch them at this time of the year though which is lower-profile and allows the chemistry to develop.

I don’t think there was ever a risk of them not getting on or working well together though. Both are known to be professional. Zero chance of drama.

Well even before This Morning he had GMB and Tipping Point, and Adil has GMB and Lingo. Or does that not count as daytime?

Is this a fair comparison?

This Morning runs longer, so that doesn’t seem like a bad number across 2 and a half hours?

Morning Live if i recall always wins its slot, even before extended. Scotts posting without any context that is something he'd pour scorn over with journalists.

Scott is a BBC fan boy so I wouldn’t expect any different

It isn’t a bad number, and around what This Morning rates on a good day, it’s just that BBC One’s line up beats ITV every single morning, it’s just the way it is

Difference being that Morning Live could be axed tomorrow and nobody would even notice.

BBC1 daytime has generally always beaten it. This Morning figures generally land in that 800k-1m mark so have remained stable during a turbulent year - ironically it's a bit of stability which may rock the boat.

Much better show today though - all a bit lighter and unsurprisingly Ben and Cat much more relaxed.

Morning Live also has great lead with BBC Breakfast. TM was getting 0.8m in the Holly and Phil era so I think the bosses will be happy.

This sums up exactly the issue I’ve felt watching This Morning over this “temporary” period. It’s felt like the kids were being allowed a go. They did as best a job as they could but it was just rougher round the edges. Now the grownups have taken it back on track and it feels safer, more grounded. It’s subtle, but it’s noticable in the tone of the programme; and the tidied up titles just help illustrate that.
