Beyond the marketing waffle, has anybody tried the existing US version and if so, what actually is it like?

The US version, CNN Replay or Rewind, feels very disjointed to me. It cuts in and out of various recorded segments, some taped live from hours before, others as scripted video reports. You don’t really know what you’re going to get in the 20-30 minute loop.
It would be nice if it had a structured News Now bulletin followed by the current setup plus on screen graphics teeing up what’s next.

Yeah I’ve watched it a bit. Not sure if it’s geolocked, but the U.S. version is called “CNN RePlay” on Pluto TV.
It’s kind of a mixed bag.
I guess someone is “curating” the clips and putting them in some kind of order, but it can feel a bit random at times.
It’s mostly clips from shows, but also scattered standalone packages. Sometimes an hour or two old. Sometimes 1-3 days old.
So… you’re kind of watching bits and pieces from what had been a live newscast.

I've seen the CNN Replay channel, they also used to call it just CNN, which would have made people think it was actual CNN. I miss when it would air the Great Big Story stuff on weekends, before CNN axed the unit. It's very much a CNN clips channel, much like the Pluto TV News channel is a various mixture of clips from different sources.

Ha. You mean like what Headline News used to be back in the day. They are such idiots. Complete and total idiots for stepping away from Headline News. It was such a legacy brand that could have carried on if Zucker & Co. hadnt screwed it up. Clearly with all these stream news channels that operate today there was a space for it to continue to exist. There was a market for it carry on. Maybe no longer as a existing cable channel, but maybe they could have created a straightforward rolling channel in the style of Headline News and re-creating the famous theme.

“Headline News” is the perfect name for rolling news on a streaming service while avoiding the political reputation of CNN. It would be nice if WBD brought the brand back on Max.

Meanwhile, Kaitlan Collins is back today on CNN This Morning, so hopefully News Central will get Sara Sidner back.
(BTW, the descision to strip News Central of one of its anchors for two days to cover holes in other timeslots seems weird - they've ran out of anchors in NY? News Central is the only thing in a while they did right.)
