Some new filler as well, footage from CNN Archives, done in the new graphics style. I'm already sick of Amanpour's NO to headscarf moment. Rolleyes

I guess (maybe temporarily) the flipper situation has flipped from what it was a few years ago! -- pun very much intended. CNN Domestic simulcasts don't seem to get a flipper, but CNNi programs do!

RE: CNN - xlalonce - 01-06-2023

If you were guessing, no, CNN en Español hasn't updated the graphics (yet)

I don't see any of the "elegance" of the graphics promised by Licht in the Upfront IMO

RE: CNN - EastCoast - 01-06-2023

Still not a fan of these graphics, although I have to say I’m impressed that CNN and CNNi were both updated on the same day.

Looks like they are going for the gigantic smartphone look as well. The end title card was never this huge.

RE: CNN - mouseboy33 - 01-06-2023

I dont think the new graphics are that bad. Its more a evolution of their previous look rather than something completely new. I do like the way it animates onscreen. I do wish they went back to the live flag appearing when what we are seeing is actually live. Im not sure about the slow flashing LIVE. Dont know why they chose to do that. I suspect the dropped the red box for CNNi to closely link it with domestic when they are simulcasting. But you can clearly see that CNNi at this point doesnt seem to be a priority for Licht. Certainly its not a money maker for WB. Interesting how some complained that CNN lower thirds were too big now its too small. Cant please everyone all the time. And Im sorry elegance doesnt always equal a font with a serif.

I do like those THIS IS CNN archival bits.
But I do hope this means the screen will be cleaner than during the Zucker regime. I hated the promo windows stacked on the side of the screen. But I do like the preview live boxes, maybe if they were watching a breaking event they would have live box in the lower right. So far I havent seen one. And I wonder if they have update their full screen graphic for a breaking news open. I dont think I have seen one. yet.

What a total mess of a graphic with the different typefaces and sizes all so closely located.

RE: CNN - mouseboy33 - 01-06-2023

I do like the raw footage THIS IS CNN campaign. I think it shows what viewers dont see.

They posted several of the spots online.

A big day too to introduce these new promos and the new graphics. Today is CNN's 43th anniversary.

Quote:Excerpt from Chris Licht's internal memo:

Forty-three years ago today, Ted Turner launched the world’s first 24-hour cable news network and shared his vision for this organization: “to act upon one’s convictions while others wait, to create a positive force in a world where cynics abound, and to provide information to people when it wasn’t available before…” His words serve as a north star for all of us. I see them as both an invitation and a challenge – to stay narrowly focused on the truth, to hold those in power to account, and to tell the stories that matter to our audiences around the world.

It’s fitting that this morning marks the release of an all-new on-air graphics package that showcases our strength as a video news organization. It’s a clean and modern presentation that provides much greater flexibility in how we communicate information and urgency to our viewers around the world. It’s the first major refresh in a decade and it will make the news the star of any screen.

Also starting today, we will be rolling out a new campaign, a raw and unedited display of iconic moments that capture the spirit, courage and integrity of our journalists and the power of the work we do at CNN every day. Our people are our greatest source of pride and this campaign puts our teams front and center. We invite you to check it out and share from this link.
