IIRC, Pamela Brown posted a picture not too long ago go her prepping for an edition of PRIMETIME from 17L, so it hasn't been dismantled.

I can't find the exact article, but one of the many posted in the past week mentioned that CNN is vacating the 17th floor. I believe they had a quote from someone related to surreal feeling of all of the news breaking as they pack up their newsroom.

Catched up on the development today on Licht resigning, I can't say I am surprised. At least when you had Zucker in charge, whatever you thought of him under his leadership, it felt quite united within CNN themselves, where as everyone seems to have lost confidence in Licht under his leadership.

I suppose it started out quite promising with him making some swift decisions about CNN+, less partisan way of presenting the news and a more reporting based approach but I think the Trump Town Hall, Don Lemon on breakfast and lack of direction and vision on Prime Time is what has killed his chances for him. The biggest success he will have is News Central, that has been an excellent and innovative way of doing the news and that really should be a feature as to whoever takes controls of CNN next.

Hmmm, Chris Licht only said this week he was moving back to the 17th floor as that's where the Newsroom is.

It's here: https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2023/06/can-chris-licht-survive-at-cnn.html

Quote:In New York, where CNN’s parent is consolidating office space and giving up the 17th floor, one reporter looked at all the moving boxes and said it felt like a season finale episode of Succession. Ironically, perhaps, Licht is about to move from the 22nd floor to one of the newsroom floors, according to several sources. But some senior employees wonder if he will last long enough to relocate.

That escalated quickly. The Guardian are reporting (via other sources) are reporting that Licht has gone.

Speaking of CNN presentation, a couple of developments here.

First, during The Lead the LIVE bug seems to have been gone for the first part, despite the content shown being live and not recorded.

UPD. After the break it returned, so maybe a CNNI simulcast bug.

Second, it is now clear that the typeface for white lower thirds still comes in several shapes: there is a wider one (above) and a narrower one (below, and this huuuge white void does not look cool), and may be even something in between.

Also, live developments in a story have migrated to the left bottom corner along with the event teasers.

This.

Also as much as they emphasise how profits supposedly are not a priority (ha! since when?), at the end of the day it will always be a consideration. Losing the left who still watch CNN thinking that they can attract Republicans by being 'centrist' (essentially turning into a bothsidism false equivalence-type coverage -- why would they quit Newsmax or Fox for that?) is delusional and does not do any favours for ratings.

The bigger picture issue is that the US political spectrum is so skewed to the right that bothsidmism doesn't work. Without the panels and with less blatantly opinionated shows (Cuomo's and Lemon's monologues for example) the coverage was actually pretty balanced considering the state of affairs. The Overton window is just so messed up that calling out blatant lies is seen as being biased.

As Amanpour's promo used to go ad-nauseam: 'truthful not neutral'

On a tangent, it's actually an amusing coincidence how the Licht profile includes a passage on this very topic and the line in the promo happens to be from Amanpour who criticised the Town Hall publicly.

RE: CNN - TMD_24 - 08-06-2023

Rishi Sunak has got an exclusive US interview with Kaitlan Collins tonight on CNN Primetime if anyone wants to stay up late for that.
