I’d argue that CNN pulling away from the cafe is exactly what Licht wanted. Don’t fall into the hysteria trap from the first time

It's the "I".  "I don't want so see anymore of that".

CNN is a news channel, and a former President speaking after appearing in court, is news.  The bias of the presenter there is so blindingly obvious.

Further, presenters, as big assets as they are, shouldn't be actively overruling editors and producers live on air.  It looks poor, and it is poor on Tapper's part.

Remember US news anchors are simply not just newsreaders. They are often the executive producers of their programmes that bear their name. So its not unusual at to hear them direct the gallery to re-rack a video or change the camera or whatever on-air. Especially during a rolling news even or live coverage. It might be foreign to UK viewers as the newsreaders their are usually just that .....newsreaders.
This is often done on the local level as well. Especially during sever weather coverage. At that time the Chief Meteorologist especially directs the entire show. Which cameras to take, or change graphics or video or whatever right from the weather desk.

As you'd expect, much of the Trumpian Press covered Jake Tapper's intervention yesterday. It seems MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace also felt it necessary to cut away from the circus.

Some interesting details in Politico London Playbook about Boris Johnson and whether he would have got a job at CNN if Licht was still there.
Quote:SCOOP — BORIS’ CNN CHAT: Now that he’s quit as an MP, attention is turning to what Johnson might do next … with books, journalism and a TV show among the things he’s reportedly interested in. On that note, Playbook hears Johnson had a secret meeting with then-CNN chief Chris Licht during his trip to the U.S. in early 2023. Johnson’s spokesman and CNN both declined to comment.
Of course … Licht has now resigned: But could their private meeting signal a wider appetite at CNN to sign Johnson as an anchor and try to boost ratings?

CNN International programming are the first shows that are being produced from the new Turner Techwood Campus. According to TVNewser: CNN Newsroom with Max Foster, CNN World Sport, Connect the World with Becky Anderson, Amanpour, and Quest Means Business were the first shows to originate out of the Techwood control rooms, with more show launches expected in the coming months.

According to the article we got a long way to go until the actual full studios are up and running. TVNewser is reporting early next year. But it seems they will have more than one studio at their disposal.

These newly built control rooms are IP-based, built using SMPTE-2110 infrastructure, providing a lot of flexibility, and designed for news, sports, and entertainment.

According to a CNN spokesperson, the launch of shows from these control rooms required seamless coordination with CNN studio operations in London, Abu Dhabi, New York, and Washington, D.C. This was the culmination of thousands of hours of work across CNN’s technical, operations, and engineering teams, a process that began five years ago.

A more definitive timeline regarding CNN’s operations moving out of the CNN Center has also emerged. CNN’s U.S. dayside will start producing shows out of these control rooms in September, and all programming currently broadcast from the CNN Center in downtown Atlanta will transition over to Techwood by October.

The new high-tech new studios at Techwood will be ready at the end of the year, with the first shows expected to originate from the facilities early next year.

They might as well give Trump a show after Johnson's recent use of the words such as Charade, Lies and the phrase 'Witch Hunt'.

There is zero chance of that ever coming to light.

Can anyone here explain this a little better. This list notably excludes shows like First Move, One World, and Isa Soares Tonight. Are these shows not produced from Atlanta?

It's hard to decipher what this will look like between October and early next year. Will CNN continue to use the studios at CNN Center with all functions happening at Techwood or will we see a few months of flash set usage from CNN?

Exciting to see that there will be more than one new studio!

RE: CNN - interestednovice - 15-06-2023

First Move, as a NY-based show, may be fully produced from Hudson Yards?

No idea about the others though.

RE: CNN - Newsroom - 15-06-2023

Thinking about "First Move' as mentioned above along with 'One World' and 'QMB' - does anyone on this thread envisage these programmes to ever vacate Flash Studios at Hudson Yards? It's such an oddity that none have moved back into a proper studio since Covid. In fact, I'm not even sure 'One World' has ever had a studio??

RE: CNN - ginnyfan - 15-06-2023

One World has been in the flash set since day 1. Would be better to have a third hour of CTW instead of it anyway.

Don't really see the point of CNNI shows coming from NY since clearly no one there is interested in giving these shows a decent, proper look and attention. They better move to London/Atlanta.
