RE: CNN - EastCoast - 21-06-2023

Glad you got the archive working.

While the segment name bears resemblance to the previous show with Michael Holmes and Suzanne Malveaux, this clip is from New Day Weekend. These particular lower third graphics were only used during New Day and New Day Weekend circa 2013-2014.

Well, today the Breaking News graphics has been redeemed - they even opened CNN News Central at 1pm with the full-length "This is CNN Breaking News" announcement and use the Breaking news stinger every time they go to/from ad break.

Previously, during Trump indictments, News Central almost never used Breaking news stingers, let alone full length voiceover announcement.

Also, CNNI announced the debris news at the top of One World with Zain Asher, then they squeezed a story or two before handing over to Domestic (where Dana Bash even welcomed international viewers) and sticking with it, apparently, for the rest of the day (although chances are, they may again play Amanpour on repeat, like they did last two days).

Looking at the domestic feed on https://archive.org/details/CNNW_20230622_150000_CNN_News_Central/start/3540/end/3600 , it appears that Inside Politics attemplted to start a couple of minutes before noon for breaking news, but somebody forgot to switch off the ads, and they crashed into Inside Politics in the middle of the DTL. (Or is it just buggy archive?)

NY Post, so take it with a huge pinch of salt: Zucker may be crawling back for the network.

CNN This Morning has Anderson Cooper as the third on-scene anchor and uses bespoke thematic Titanic background, both on videowall and on split-screen.

CNN changing back to their old graphics… embarrassing:

RE: CNN - TMD_24 - 24-06-2023

Hahahaha imagine the money that went into that to be wasted. What's the point to be honest, might as well keep them and make them better?

RE: CNN - Charles - 24-06-2023

That is hilarious and ridiculous. It almost seems like they're doing it out of spite. There must be some serious culture problems inside CNN.

I don't love the new graphics, but they've grown on me. They should just keep them for now and change to something else once they name a new president, who will want his or her own new graphics anyway.

Well, on that, Dylan Byers is also reporting the interim team could be in place until after the 2024 election:

That should be the logic...

Currently, you have this graphics along the GO THERE campaign with the flat look, and the website, not to mention that there is not guidelines in case of show branding (apart from TSR and the CNNI shows)

Back in 2014, you have that campaign launched, then the website, then the 2014 straps with Gotham. That kind of standardization happened because the then-New CEO had one of the few good ideas for the Network: A coordinated look across all their platforms.

That didn't lasted long, but they at least had a process to follow

This new graphics were, in a way, a correction of the mistakes committed in the Orange Ages, but there wasn't a coordination with the rest. It would be stupid, though, to revert to the old look since the new are not bad overall...

But I guess Zazlav and John Malone are just making this as an example and a symbol of how "bad" was the Licht regime, but without admitting that the problem is just the continuation of the problems CNN had even before the Zucker mess

Not spite.  The new graphics just didn’t work as well as the previous ones.  And since the guy who picked them is gone… well… why keep them?

My FIRST thought after Licht was fired was… so can they go back to the old look then?  And I KNOW I was not alone.
