Yesterday's show is already on the archive and the column is gone indeed, wow - just seamless connection between two videowalls, noticable mostly by wrinkle in the red stripe.

Was it purely decorative? I always thought it had some tech inside to power those walls or was some part of the set construction.

UPD 28 June. Actually, yesterday (27 June) they did an even wider shot than on Monday, revealing part of the decoration above the screens with the visible angle

Inspeaking of the new HLN logo, it looks like the old ITN logo, but also almost like an inverse CNN logo, too bad we'll never see that logo with news (minus the simulcast that says on HLN) 

Here's how it looks on air,  the reason the shot looks like this is because they are airing a old episode  of Forensic Files with footage from a VHS.  

Exactly, they make it look like it's bad to have lots of news and variety in an hour, instead of running 1 or 2 stories, Trump stories I should say, to the ground, which is what they were doing during Zucker and will keep on doing now. It will be unwatchable and CNNI will be dragged into it all over again.

Anyone who thinks the likes of Darcy and Stelter know or care about proper journalism is wrong.

The recent death of former CNNer David Bohrman reminded me that CNN and other North American (local/national) news operations, which routinely get de-rided for a variety or reasons, have innovated so much of what we see as normal in virtually every country around the world. From creating the first regular broadcast news programme 1940 on NBC (BBC Newsreel 1948), 1st morning breakfast news broadcasts (Today), windowed streetfront studios (Today & perfected by CityTv), 24 hour news channels (CNN & HLN), news helicopters (KTLA), 1st live remote news broadcast (NBC), Live mobile news vehicle (NBC Bloomobile), First tv weather forecast in 1926 DC (BBC 1954), First colour news broadcast NBC 1954, First use of live Weather Radar on TV, and other innovations, such as Mr Bohrmans use of a TouchScreen on CNN which is now virtually found on every broadcast news operation around the world.

Yes North American broadcasters dont get everything right, but the vitriol and nasty comments I constantly see is that anything remotely American is seen as a negative or bad, in my opinion unwarranted. No Im not say there should be a deference to American tv news, and not trying to put down any other broadcaster or country, but i dont think the tone and snide comments is warranted, just because its a bit flashier. Canadian and Australian tv news is very similar in many respects but they fail to get the same vitrol saved for American broadcasters. And never a snide remark is thrown at the very odd Japanese news broadcasts or the headache inducing Indian news programmes. No my point might not be so eloquently stated and Im sure it will be (as usual) picked apart line by line, but hopefully we all can make posts without attacking a specific country news culture as the worst or negative aspect of a tv presentation.

CNN is making plans to include live programming from the channel on the Max Streaming platform later this year. Although it will be provided to subscribers of Max outside of the United States. They cannot easily place their live streams on Max for U.S. subscribers as it's a complicated process with cable news channels which offer similar news content to their own viewers.

Don't think this is a London backdrop we've seen before -- and London has a large slate of very nice backdrops which are very rarely seen! Also, a rare occasion when First Move is covered from elsewhere than from NYC?

Anna Coren and Paula Newton got opens and stings with their names as a part of the last redesign of CNNI Newsroom. However, there seem to be no voiceovers for their opens.

Actually, there is a voiceover for Paula Newton after the last redesign.

Must be a rare occasion, indeed. I wonder if it was done from a big studio or a flash set? One World was also done mostly from London last week, with Christina McFarlane anchoring, but it seemed to originate from the flash set (as big studio was getting ready for Amanpour, I suggest).

To me that looked like it was actually onset. Its gonna be strange when they scrub "From CNN Center...." voiceover from the titles. But then again. Its just semantics really. Wherever CNN is operating can be dubbed CNN Center. The sad part is the head honchos seem embarrassed to include "Atlanta" in the openers..... which used to be in many of the title openers. The channel used to be proud to say Atlanta. Even the anchors would say "from CNN Center in Atlanta, I'm Paula Newton"...or whomever. 'Dem days are gone. Ugh.

Its funny watching those videos from back in the day of CNN's "glory days". Even though the sets werent all that fancy and computer graphics were still chintzy...the channel still felt, big and important and extremely serious. Certainly wouldnt fly today because of the way people consume news is different. Its just interesting to see the big names that the channel had anchor-wise. They were probably the most unflapped and smoothest anchors anywhere as far anchor live rolling breaking news for hours.

CNN US is back to its old design habits: it started countdown to their July 4 live event using the full width of the lower thirds, meaning flipper and clock/markets aston are culled for the day and the headline strap is thrown above its usual place.
