RE: CNN - JK08 - 04-07-2023

That feels wildly insensitive given the story being covered in that capture - and that I would assume is dominating the day's news in the U.S.?

It's not dominating shows, but I agree it's insensitive to show when covering such stories. July 4th is a celebration, mass shootings are clearly not. it also looks fat, clunky and unpleasant.

I don’t find it insensitive, gun violence is unfortunately part of the fabric of American life. If they only showed the ad on good news they’d never have it up.

That said, the ad shouldn’t be taller than the headline strap imo.

I mean it's bigger than on any other occasion, and with a makeshift 'Performer Flipper'. Plus, is a countdown of any use to anyone?

I do agree with everyone that it looks horrible. And even if they did this full width banner, It certainly could have been half the size. But keep in mind. CNN is not the BBC or AJE. They dont have guaranteed funding. Its a commercial news channel. Some decisions like this have money driving implications. Its sad but true. Sometimes it has a greater weight in the grand scheme. Im sure the journalists hate it as well. But there you go.

Kaitlan Collins starts her new 9pm on Monday, it's called "The Source with Kaitlan Collins".

Recycling a CNN+ title then. That was Kasie Hunt’s shows title I believe?

Schedules for Monday are online. The Source at 9pm, CNN Primetime at 10pm, and CNN Tonight at 11pm. Glad to see CNN making a distinction between 10pm and 11pm. Only downside is that CNN Newsroom with Rosemary Church is no longer simulcast on domestic.

CNN Tonight broadcast from Anderson's studio (21L) Wednesday and Thursday. Wonder if this means Kaitlan will launch from the CNC/EBO studio (19Z)?

This might explain why they got rid of the white column - it would not have blended well with the nightly yellow cityscape on the videowalls, it is much better with a continous panorama.

Also, Alisyn briefly uses second part of the studio to make a standing introduction to the program.

They have returned to repeating 2 hours of CNN Tonight instead of airing CNNI Newsroom (with Rosemary Church) on Domestic several weeks ago, when they were covering Trump's second arraignment.
