Wow. Truly the end of an era. Christine has helmed Early Start since January 2014. She’s also been a part of the morning team for well over a decade, anchoring American Morning at the end of her tenure.

RE: CNN - ginnyfan - 28-07-2023

Sad news. She was one of few remaining, long serving CNN US people left who was always great and could fit in any version of morning shows they had on.

Hopefully London gets that hour. Useless to waste NY resources for an hour anyway.

RE: CNN - EastCoast - 28-07-2023

Giving the hour to CNNI makes a lot of sense. White it would mean disbanding team, hopefully most can be reassigned rather than made redundant. I’d say that CNN Newsroom would have to carry a more US breakfast centric rundown, but it does that anyway.

I assume Rachel Solomon would take over the business stories in the morning. Julia Chatterly would also be an option for the 6 and 7 am hours.

RE: CNN - oscillon - 28-07-2023

Julia Chatterley just gave quite a lengthy send-off to Christine Romans after the DTL with her on First Move, showing some archival footage as well

I don't think the team would even need to be disbanded. From what some insiders here have told us before, the entire US overnight on CNNi is run by a single team and thus would be unable to handle an extra hour with Bianca and Max permanently. The Early Start team could be reassigned to handle both of the London Newsroom hours to lighten the load on US overnights.

Wouldn't it require reshaping some logistics, for the New York team to handle London hours instead of Atlanta?

CNN This Morning also had a nine-minute(!) send-off to Christine in the Domestic-only hour, with lots of archival footage - and her former co-anchor John Berman joining as well

RE: CNN - Charles - 28-07-2023

That is a big loss. She was great and always delivered. The Romans-Berman pairing was probably the best one CNN had in the morning in the last 15 years.

Variety is reporting that she’s going to another outlet. I’m going to guess one of the big three networks. She’d be a great fit at NBC.

A couple of other send offs from today from Early Start and First Move

Yeah, but it wouldn't be that extreme. Many shows are produced from multiple bureaus quite seamlessly. Having NY produce a London show versus Atlanta producing a London show would look virtually the same.

Wouldn't it be something if she ends up at NBC and is paired back up with Laura Jarrett for their version of Early Start.

RE: CNN - sky303 - 28-07-2023

Wow what a loss for CNN, she was part of the now long gone CNN FN network too, I also remember she and Ali Velshi did a show called "On the Money" later it was called "Your Money". Also funny that she did Early Start longer than New Day existed.

I could see her going to NBC News/ NBC News Now or CBS News.

RE: CNN - j.smith - 29-07-2023

Variety reporting she's headed for NBC:
