RE: CNN - sky303 - 27-09-2023

It looks like it launches at 8AM ET (1PM BST) with Rahel Solomon and Fredricka Whitfield, Jim will be on at 2pm ET , still otherwise vague about the line up

Reminds me of how Halle Jackson left MSNBC to NBC News Now, though her streaming show is probably much better than being on MSNBC, since she can do more topics and stories and not just politics. There's a good chance of getting more freedom to do more than you do on the TV side.

I was close!

As for the rest of the schedule, the first newsroom show is supposed to be 3 hours, so we should expect to see:
0600 CNN This Morning
0800 CNN Newsroom (confirmed)
1100 State of the Race (painfully obvious)
1200 One World?
0100 Amanpour (confirmed)
0200 CNN Newsroom (confirmed)
0300 Quest Means Business?
0400 The Lead (confirmed)
0600 The Situation Room (confirmed)
0700 Erin Burnett OutFront (confirmed)
0800 Anderson Cooper 360 (confirmed)

Recall that the DC edition of News Central is about to get an hour chopped off in favour of Pamela Brown's new show.
As soon as that was announced, there was immediate speculation right here about the possibility of trimming down a presenter as well.
Nothing is ever entirely the anchors decision. The network will choose a direction, the agents will negotiate for their clients, and the anchors will hope they hired the right agent.

As an anchor under a contract, Jim wouldn’t have left News Central this early if he didn’t want to. He likely had an opportunity to get behind a desk and be the face of what CNN are calling the future and ran with it.

On a completely unrelated note, Jake Tapper held an interview in the brick set today for some reason.

Interestingly, Kasie Hunt promoted her new show at the end of Early Start, saying that it will be on CNN International and she'll be talking to Joe Manchin... and not a single word about their new streaming, CNN Max Undecided

The interview that Jake did was pre-recorded, so may be they just chose the brick set as the only one avaliable with a coffee table instead of a desk (19X might be going reversal to Town Hall mode)

CNN Max is live! This is what the homepage of the app looks like:

The bug is a red CNN Max logo. Can’t seem to take a screenshot on my end.

RE: CNN - sky303 - 27-09-2023

Using the standard CNN graphics (hmm there is an inverse variant used and using the CNN Newsroom International look ) The music isn't the same as CNNI Newsroom, though.

They seem to have this one locked shot too.

During the break , which was short, they had the logo on the screen with the newsroom name underneath

They don't seem to have ads yet, just promos.

Thank you for the screengrabs!

It's apparently a flashcam set with the background mimicking Washington's Studio D with Atlanta's cityscape.

RE: CNN - EastCoast - 27-09-2023

The show and graphics say “Newsroom”; however, Fred has only referred to it as “CNN Max”. There’s also a graphic that flashes before live shots that says “CNN Max Live”

The start of the show was rough with a double opt out from CNN US to CNN International to CNN Max.

During the TOTH headlines, the US Newsroom graphics were used, similar to those seen on Fred’s weekend show. Fred also accidentally said “it’s 11am in Atlanta, 5am in Los Angeles”

Rahel takes over at 10a. No word yet on if she’ll anchor for one hour or two. She is currently on air in front of a virtual set giving a markets report.

Overall exactly this is going well for a beta launch. This is what CNN+ should have been: rolling news, not appointment streaming disguised as on demand viewing.

Kasie just confirmed State of the Race will air on Max and International

CNN has just released the full MAX line-up:

https://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/2023/09/27/cnn-max-launches-beta-us-live-news-streaming/

One World, Amanpour and QMB are there.

8-10 am is billed as "CNN Newsroom with Amara Walker, Fredricka Whitfield and Jim Acosta" (in rota?)
11am is just Rahel Solomon, as well as 2pm is just Jim Sciutto.

Given that all of them have weekend anchoring on the 'main' CNN, a rotation over weekdays would indeed make the most sense.

I wonder what the maximum CNN US simulcast they could get away with was with all the cable distribution deals, because there is a lot of it! I wonder if the loophole was it being CNN US shows simulcast on CNNi hence it being a 'CNNi Simulcast' and not a CNN US simulcast.
