And then around the corner from that newsroom was EPIC, where they shot Backstory. That camera also eventually was removed.

They had a temporary DTL constructed here. Behind this curved wall was where the old set/studio used to be and they installed desks there.
it did for a short period when they ripped out the big domestic set and they were constructing Studio7 then i think it went to a CSO set and then they completely scrubbed all views of the newsroom. They didnt even show the newsroom in and out of breaks during their Newsroom programmes. Which is odd. you think that would have taken live shots across the newsroom during the CNN newsroom era. But they never did. Even when they moved to Hudson Yards and had the mini newsroom backdrop they never showed the CNN Center Newsroom. Its like it ceased to exist.

International also used to use a position overlooking the newsroom (which one?) with a big pillar and CNN logo if I recall correctly for News Now and Sports Now at times. I wonder if someone has a cap? There used to be someone (maybe someone on here) who posted News Now clips regularly but I can't seem to find them anymore.

And then they added that gawdawful yellow panelling. Really hated that look!

But, the use of several angles and different positions was great and showcased what they had. Now, it's just someone sitting at a desk with rhe same face-on shot. Lovely set in London and we rarely get to see it!

Looking forward to the shots (!) of the next Atlanta studio. Started out well...

I do miss the CNNI style of the CNN US lower 3rds from that period, I actually liked the CNN 2008-2011 lower thirds, didn't like the 2011 look.
I liked the World Report branding but the graphics were kind of old looking when they launched them. Do miss International Desk.

To finish this day, with some temporary sets. I forgot to post about the one they used at the end of 2008 and start of 2009, while the dark blue set was being built. It was nice to have a newsroom background again, for a while. Was this something from HLN?

It was in fact from HLN; the last uses were as the weekend studio (until 2007-2008), and as ocasional backup/DTL studio during 2009, even was used for a time during the final block of news (:54 to :57) before Prime News

The curious part is CNNI used again a small HLN studio as a temp base during the construction of studio 4's final incarnation.
