RE: CNN - TMD_24 - 28-11-2023

Erin Burnett OutFront has some new graphics tonight as shown at the opening of the show.

It's a bit big on the front size and doesn't fit all the time.

Yep, they will have to work it out to stop overlapping with the CNN logo

seems they are verbally saying KING CHARLES but visually added her first name and his surname in a smaller font, for those that havent seen it. Interesting to see if the actual broadcast retains that in the titles.

Only when I saw the promo did I realize KING comes from her last name. Before that I thought they were just pandering to Barkley's fanbase. Big Grin

Atlanta overnights really lost a lot when they went single-headed. Never liked Newsroom LA and in a sense it broke up the optimal arrangement of 2 duos covering overnights when it got expanded to 3 hours.

There was an interesting week or two in perhaps 2017 or 2018 when there was an Atlanta anchor along with Isa Soares and another with Max Foster covering overnights which made it quite interesting with the use of long closes which showed pans of Atlanta then London. Wonder if anyone has caps from that week.

I also miss the old London studio. It was used very interestingly despite it's small size. The old desk looked very interesting, never liked it being replaced with a regular looking desk for CNN Talk and later for all shows.

I still wonder if someone sees the name in the listings and thinks it's a show about King Charles.

John and Rosie should be reunited as a team together.  I miss the concept of CNNI doing breakfast programmes for Europe and Asia.  I wasn't a fan of Newsroom LA , just because it ended up having long winded discussions and less news stories.

The main issue with Newsroom LA was essentially that -- and the set which never looked that nice (too cramped, too dark) even when it was redone.

It introduced Domestic punditry during European breakfast which was a poor decision, though I guess since it was simulcast on Domestic they thought it'd make sense. Because they were on the West Coast they could have the pro-Trump and anti-Trump pundits in the studio contrary to in Atlanta where they simply don't do that during overnights, even via video link.

The brick studio has never been my favourite. But the lighting scheme is brilliant. It can take on any look. Also how they made the columns stand out with that subtle washes on them instead of generically bathing the wall in the same colour. Really smart. Plus it seems "KC" might be the moniker they are going to use. I also like the chair colours linked withe hosts chair colour. Smart. Hopefully the programme content holds up. Gayle King is a great interviewer. But sadly CNNs image is so severely damaged from the Trump years. Probably not going to do well i fear. Id like to be wrong though.

RE: CNN - EastCoast - 30-11-2023

The set reminds me of the short-lived sports show Unguarded with Rachel Nichols. Agreed that it looks very nice.

The graphics look a lot cleaner without the red segment describer, or the live bug for that matter.

Hopefully the full episode is on Max so I can form my opinion on content.
