CNN's raucous New Year's special retains Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen from Times Square, but west coast coverage will be anchored by Sara Sidner and Cari Champion from Austin after the sacking of Don Lemon. Other mainstays of the event continue (Quest, the Tuchmans, live on-site correspondents...)

Fully recognizing that we're talking about a news organization, I hope Anderson and Andy are able to partake this year. Last year's dry broadcast felt a bit stale.

I didn’t ever particularly rate Don Lemon, but he did make a good pairing with Brooke Baldwin for NYE. I miss them being the second set of presenters at a different (non-NY) location.

It appears that Scott McLean is CNN's new Turkey correspondent after Jomana Karashed moved to London earlier this year. It seems like a strange decision, as Jomana Karashed has spent her entire career in the Middle East and Scott has no experience in the matter.

The 8am GMT Newsroom broadcast came from Hong Kong this morning (the same happened around Christmas last year).

Always nice to see Kristie where she belongs presenting the news. Since the death of CNN-HK it's so rare to see her covering news. Hopefully the new leadership recognizes the wasted potential of HK and at least considers bringing back a show or two.
