Yes, last we heard the NewsStream set was actually still there?

Bring back at least an hour a day from HK, I say!

Is it me or does Erin Burnett, bless her, sound like she is suffering from a cold tonight?

RE: CNN - mouseboy33 - 19-12-2023

Poor Erin always seems like she is either on the verge of illness or exhaustion.

Early days, but reports that CNN's owner WBD is talking to Paramount about a merger. That would be quite a considerable deal. If it happened it would mean CNN sharing ownership with CBS, and more significantly here, Channel 5.

The BBC would be in an indirect partnership with CNN?

Once they've merged, they'll take over NBC Universal. CNNBCBS a division of ABC just as The Simpsons predicted

RE: CNN - EastCoast - 21-12-2023

Early days and huge speculation, but if WBD follows the NBC model which keeps MSNBC and NBC Network News separate that should ease staffers. Getting more people on Max will help CNN Max find a foothold, which feels like the next focus for the current leadership. The big synergy with this proposed deal isn’t news, it’s the sports and streaming division.

I can’t see CBS Mornings being simulcast on the network. Maybe HLN could be the linear channel for CBS News. Who knew King Charles would be the early indicator for a potential Paramount WBD merger!

IF this merger happens and CBS and CNN combine, I’m sure the expectation is there will be mass layoffs.

And don’t forget… CBS News already has its own live streaming news network. What would that mean for CNN Max?

Guess we might find out in 3-6 months… or more.

Wonder if this would even get regulatory approval.

Quest was in London tonight and he did Isa's hour from the main big studio, but then for QMB he used a one-shot broom cupboard set up .

I've noticed he never uses the proper set when in London for QMB these days. Not sure what's the deal with that, do they use the main studio for something else at that time? Or is QMB now their trademark broom cupboard show, no matter what location it's presented from?

Quest anchoring 2 hours on the OVN shift (4a and 5aET). It’s tradition for Quest to anchor around Christmas.

RE: CNN - interestednovice - 23-12-2023

Indeed, hopefully he will be back on the big day itself for some Quest Christmas Crackers!

Regarding the flash sets that Quest now always uses, maybe it is a deliberate choice so it’s not so obvious whether the programme is from London, New York or somewhere else - it keeps a consistent look. Why you would want that when the “consistent look” ends up being quite basic, I have no idea, but if it is strategic I would guess that’s why.
