RE: CNN - ginnyfan - 28-12-2023

Studios are in a way the best example of where CNN is right now. And it is a sad place, where everyone is slowly giving up. Broom cupboards have become a standard. Something that, in the past, would be used ONLY in extreme cases of emergency, is now an everyday occurrence. QMB, One World and until recently First Move have adopted them as permanent homes, while London uses it whenever there's a smallest chance not to open the main set. Even when they actually use the main set, in London and Atlanta, it's mostly that main presenter close up. Newswalls and extra space are barely used.

And it's not just CNN International's problem, Lead and Sitroom are also from a flash studio.

I’m sure the increase in flash studio usage this week is due to the holidays.

More people are required to operate full studios.

And in Atlanta, they’ll be back in a full studio once it’s ready.

But yeah, it is frustrating that shows like QMB seem to be stuck with flash studios for now.

RE: CNN - EastCoast - 28-12-2023

Even though News Central is not in broom cupboards, all of the recent editions have been fixed to a desk rather than floating around the studio on account of the holidays.

Agreed that QMB and One World desperately need to be moved to a studio. It’s ridiculous that the bureau with the most studios can’t commit one to CNNi for two hours a day.

Hopefully the new Atlanta studio debuts soon and someone realizes that studios actually enhance the broadcast.

Interesting rota today. Victor anchored CNN This Morning solo, with Amara covering Fred’s newsroom shift in the afternoon.

Kristie Lu Stout kicks off CNNi’s rolling New Year’s Eve coverage, which is also airing on CNN Max.

We’ve all said it before, and I’ll say it again, Kristie should have her own show again. It’s a shame she’s relegated to a cover anchor.

It was actually Paula Newton who started the CNNi New Year coverage at 12:45pm UK time.

There's a schedule here for who's on today.

RE: CNN - alex.w - 31-12-2023

I’m honestly very pleasantly surprised at this year’s coverage…non-stop all day broadcast from CNNI, no scheduled fallback to domestic, anchors from around the world, and not just Atlanta, covering? They’ll have more CNNI produced broadcasts today than any other day of the year. And on a holiday no less!

John Vause is anchoring now and he’s in Studio 4 at the CNN Center! Thank goodness they decided to use a studio for today’s coverage.

RE: CNN - interestednovice - 31-12-2023

Seems like it’s because of CNN Max, but I’ll take it!

Kristie was great from Hong Kong!

RE: CNN - Global TV - 31-12-2023

They have also done it last year
