Radio interview with Hala Gorani. She's promoting her new book. Six minute listen or read the transcript.

(I didn't see the first hour so not sure if there was any other coverage there.)

At least in Amara’s hour it was Max Foster in London.

Kasie Hunt just said that today's Early Start will be its last episode "after 12 years", I wonder if CNN will make her takeover CNN This Morning, instead of expanding Early Start to two hours, as previously reported.

What was reporting was exactly her takeover of CNN This Morning

RE: CNN - EastCoast - 23-02-2024

12 years is a remarkably long run for a CNN Breakfast show. Early Start with Ashleigh Banfield and Zoraida Sambolin launched on Jan 2, 2012, airing from 5-7am. The show got off to a rocky start, with the "Wake Em Up" segment attracting much criticism, particularly from Jon Stewart. The graphics were originally a powder blue, before adopting the current yellow/orange/blue during the summer of 2012. This might be the longest run of any graphics package on CNN.

John Berman would replace Ashleigh in July of 2012. 2013 saw Early Start lose an hour when New Day launched in June. 2014 saw Christine Romans replace Zoraida in January and Early Start expand into the 4am hour to cover a missing plane in July. Dave Briggs replaced John in February of 2017 before being replaced by Laura Jarrett in January of 2020.

Early Start would take a two month hiatus during the pandemic before returning as a one hour show. Laura left in July of 2022 and Christine left a year later. Kasie's stint is the shortest anyone has been at the helm of the show.

Quite unfortunate for Phil and Poppy. Whilst they didn't front a particularly exceptional show that stood out from the crowded field of competitions, it got the job done and was a perfectly watchable show which although quickly returned to a very New Day format worked much better than the initial CNN This Morning iteration.

RE: CNN - inletwindow - 23-02-2024

Kind of bewildering that the “CNN This Morning” name is being kept… for what will otherwise be an entirely different show anchored by someone else and produced by a new team in Atlanta.

Early Start had a good run indeed… first paired with Starting Point, then New Day, and finally CNN This Morning.

And now it’s BECOMING CNN This Morning.

I forgot that I had started out 5a-7a, because for a long while it was 4am - 6am. Then once the pandemic hit, that 4am hour was given to CNNI for what is now Max and Bianca’s newsroom hour.
