Random people appearing from random flash locations with the usual boring building backgrounds. CNNI has many wasted quality anchors in Atlanta that could easily step in but instead we have to watch intern reporters auditioning.....

Need that oppressive American accent at all costs over a seasoned pro like Michael Holmes

RE: CNN - EastCoast - 03-03-2024

And now we have Jim Sciutto in the Newsroom. Maybe it was just one of those weekends everyone had off.

It’s shameful that they have Michael Holmes anchoring two thirty minute bulletins on weekends. If only they’d move him to weekdays or give him the PM Newsroom spot.

I would also add that Jessica Dean seems to have been filling in on CNN Newsroom a few times recently, and CNN do love promoting Washington correspondents to anchor status. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see her even more in the future.

Jake Tapper’s United States of Scandal is focusing on Eliot Spitzer tonight, the same Eliot Spitzer who anchored a primetime show on CNN from 2010-2011. Feels like an odd editorial choice to me.

Eh. His show got canceled almost 13 years ago. And he was involved in an infamous scandal. I think he’s more than fair game.

I’m sure everyone at CNN would like to forget both Parker Spitzer and In the Arena. I know I had before you reminded me of it!

RE: CNN - Charles - 04-03-2024

I found an old hard drive and found that I recorded the top of almost every hour of CNN Newsroom Domestic circa February 2012. I never got around to making a compilation and uploading it until now.

I never thought I'd be nostalgic for that era, yet here I am. Even with the Iowa Caucus just days away, politics didn't seem to dominate or lead every single hour. Also, as far as presentation goes, there are several things we wouldn't really see today: anything like that expansive Studio 7, in-studio handoffs between anchors, or a real newsroom backdrop for at least one hour. Also, Suzanne Malveaux reading four minutes' worth of headlines at the top of the hour with a music bed underneath the entire time is not really something we'd see today. Also, who can forget the supertease during the Brooke Baldwin block of her walking around CNN Center (though Don was filling in the day I recorded.)

Such variety of sets, newsroom and presentation. Feels like a totally different channel. The reduction of CNN Center and everything moving to NY was truly the beginning of the end for CNN....

And there goes the signage from CNN Center.

The original Studio 7 Newsroom theme and look were my favorite , hated when they changed the music later on. I remember the Brooke Baldwin newsroom having that nice yellow and blue look and a special intro that was neat. I miss most of pre Zucker CNN.
