And there it is! John Vause is live on CNN Newsroom, broadcasting out of the new Studio 8.

Studio 8? It’s called Studio H.

My bad, you’re right, I misheard him speaking, but rewatched the recording to confirm he indeed said Studio H!

Thank you so much for the screen grab! Yes, 8 and H sometimes sound familiar! Big Grin

Was it clear whether John used previously unseen part of the set (that is supposed to be behind the camera on the screencap) or the already known part with the desk that is seen behind him?

I've caught Rosemary's second hour and it appears they did not have any particularly wide shots, so even at the start there was just a zoom in onto Rosemary at the desk (looking undistinguishable from the one we've seen), making it hard to determine. Other than this, she did a standing presentation at the smaller screen. (The same that is used by meteo team on weekend mornings? Or it has a doppelganger in the second part of the set?)

This post from Rosie has your answers.

The fifth photo shows John walking up to Rosemary at the end of his second hour. She is seated at the secondary desk. This is backwards to the 2014 era walk-on where the upcoming anchor was the one standing.

The sixth item is a video that very much cuts to avoid showing any of the “unseen” part of the studio.

At present there doesn’t seem to be any indication as to which programs, if any, will move to the Main desk, and which programs, if any, will feature the VR/AR elements. It will be disappointing if the CNNI Newsroom and CNN This Morning Weekend shows are relegated to the corner in perpetuity.

It is just me or maybe the studio would look better if they remove the sofa on non-morning shows? It takes out a lot of space (if they do wide shots), it doesn`t fit at all and they don`t even seem to use it.

At one point, Rosi's video gives us an insight into what is behind the cameras. You can see that there is already a set wall, but it looks like it's half finished.

Another interesting fact is that the cameras have been replaced since the March launch.

not necessarily, just different bases on some cameras most likely.

RE: CNN - Talkover - 09-05-2024

I know that many of you miss the old CNNInternational and are happy about every show that is not taken over by CNN US. But I find the line-up horrible at the moment. I would like the choice to see the US program - for example, the US coverage of the Trump process.

The worst show is First Move. No replacement, no alternative to the Situation Room. If CNN has to produce alternative programs for Max, why does the CNNI audience have to suffer from it? Or if CNN wants to produce a morning show for the Asian market, why don't they only broadcast it there? Technically, this is possible.

The thematic balancing act does not succeed in serving a worldwide audience and that of Max. Best example "Quest means business". This has hardly anything to do with a business broadcast. Sad!

Sorry, that had to be out ;-)

Cameras that need a person behind them to operate them vs cameras that can be operated remotely. Like a person in another room controlling all the cameras with a joystick type setup.
