Speaking of which, is she still co-anchoring State of the Union after taking over Inside Politics Weekdays?

I love Dana's response! Super classy and totally correct. What dire journalism for the LATIMES to have run with that! It's more akin to UK tabloid sexist trash.

I don't know. If the situation were reversed, and Dana Bash was losing a show to John King, you don't think headlines would include ex-husband?

It's part of what makes it interesting. They're keeping Inside Politics but ditching John King. Who's replacing him? His ex-wife!

Yes, she's also an extremely talented journalist and host in her own right. I don't think mentioning that she's his ex-wife implies otherwise.

It's below their standard to have used that term and they rightly so amended the article,

CNN will make a Trump town hall on May 10, moderated by Kaitlan Collins

https://us.cnn.com/2023/05/01/politics/donald-trump-town-hall/index.html

It's in in New Hampshire so no common CNN studios will be used.

You can tell the tide at CNN has turned compared to all those years ago under the Zucker era when Donald Trump is invited to do a town hall with them. I'm not sure how I feel about that though. It might be a bit of a turn off for the traditional CNN audience and does feel a bit of a ratings chase.

Not really. It's the Orange one who needs to benefit from this development. He's not appeared on the network at any opportunity since before I can remember and that was his decision. CNN have always checked every instance when they've invited the Orange one on and he's declined.

But as you've said, it's definitely a ratings hit even before it's aired.

The Zucker era (pre-Trump presidency/early campaign) is the same era which would do this exact sort of things... in a bid to chase ratings.

CNN have always done Town Halls.

It's well documented what went on during Zucker's tenure.

My pushback here is thatCNN would be running Town Halls whether #45 was running or not, the very fact he's agreed to do one with a moderator who once berated him with questions he found inappropriate is rather telling.

Insider's Claire Atkinson reporting that 'a brand refresh is set to debut in June':

https://twitter.com/claireatki/status/1653499512210575371

Quote:One year into his new role, CNN CEO Chris Licht is quietly working on a major brand refresh of the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned global news network. The effort will see a rethink of everything from changing the typeface of the lower-third captions on the TV screen and a new in-studio look to a revamp of CNN's website and overall digital presence.

The network is expected to unveil the new look at WBD's upfront presentation later this spring with the brand refresh becoming noticeable to viewers in June, according to a person who has been involved in the discussions and seen mock-ups. The changes include a lower-third caption style that is described as elegant, and producers will be able to deploy different looks depending on whether anchors are reporting run-of-the-mill news of the day or big breaking stories.
