It's hard to get used to it after so many years of the previous era, although to be fair, ITV and Channel 4 barely bothered even in those days simply because of the advertising revenue in the days leading up to Christmas Day.

Looking at this weekends schedules for both C4 and C5 you'd think Christmas Day was on Sunday.

C4 bringing out the Raymond Briggs animations early this year.

Do feel like Christmas Day would be instantly better by not including Mrs Brown's Boys.  That's such a baffling deal.  But just switching shows around a bit could make the big day feel really fresh - having Doctor Who, Death in Paradise, Not Going Out and Ghosts would be a very solid Christmas Day line up.
I agree with that, so swapping Call the Midwife with Death in Paradise, and Mrs Brown with Not Going Out would immediately make Christmas Day feel fresher.

Call the Midwife would still get the flagship Boxing Day main slot, but I presume this would be seen as a snub by some on the production

I think Boxing Day often rates higher anyway and probably more suited to longer programmes too.

Yeah I daresay it's because most of us have a nap on Christmas Day afternoon

Does anyone have any hints as to when the Christmas presentation launches?

RE: BBC One Christmas 2023 - Argyess - 29-11-2023

No official word yet, as far as I'm aware. My money's on Saturday evening, possibly before Strictly

RE: BBC One Christmas 2023 - Asa - 29-11-2023

The last five years it's been post Strictly with Tess and Claudia usually referencing the Christmas trails, some years introduced with an ident. So as this year appears to be in the spirit of re-use, I can't see it being any different.

RE: BBC One Christmas 2023 - Brekkie - 29-11-2023

Only difference is arguably at the moment Doctor Who is their flagship Saturday night show and you'd think the junction between Doctir Who and Strictly is their most watched junction of the week, probably more so than Strictly and Survivor.
