This ident just isn't working for me - it's cute but that's about all I can say about it.  The Christmas element of it is almost not there at all, and even if not having the lens effect it misses having a central element that connects them all like the tree in the Shaun the Sheep idents.

Be thankful we got anything new, as BBC seems to be cutting back on everything and ITV don't bother, just rehash previous years presentation, as does Channel 5.

When was the last time BBC One reused Christmas idents? It does feel rather underwhelming this year. I still don't think 2014 has been bettered...

2007 was the last time they did this, a repeat of the previous year's snowball ident, used alongside the then new penguins ident.

This is, however, the very first time that an ident from 3 years earlier has been re-used.

There's nothing wrong with reusing idents if they were great in the first place.

As with BBC presentation in recent years, it hasn't been.

Of all the years they could have reused, they’ve used the one year where most people will have been watching TV at Christmas most of all. I reckon a lot of people will recognise these from 3 years ago.

That said I do feel this set had the nicest News-safe idents of the past 5 years.
