I assume the curved screen area would see the infills as per LK's Sunday programme, to allow for a seated interview area. We've also already seen the extensions/additions which make the 'mega desk'. It'll also be good to see the touchscreen in use, given that it's rarely used in that way for the national news these days.

One interesting thing to note is that when studio B got it's current set it was mentioned (in press releases?) that it can support AR. I don't particularly recall seeing much use of AR in studio B to date. Maybe that could be utilised instead of the old virtual reality green screen stuff.

I think the AR is basically that the ElectricFriends cameras support depth tracking, so graphical elements can be overlaid and “float in space” with people able to go in front of and behind them properly as though they are real.

This could allow for things like swing graphics to appear “full height” in a wide shot of the studio, possibly alongside graphics on the real tower display. However, I doubt the BBC will be too adventurous with it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the end result is just Jeremy Vine wheeling out a virtual Downing Street in Studio A (complete with it’s relatively uncanny VR) as in previous years.

I wonder this as well. In the past, we have had separate morning presenters and Clive has often appeared as a “next day” presenter on the NC. So I do wonder if this means Laura will be leading coverage overnight and Clive will take over in the morning? Then Laura would return for analysis after a break for some rest, and other network presenters would lead coverage into the afternoon and evening?

I don't know about you, but I actually have a limit over how many hours I can concentrate and react at work in a reasonable way, regardless of the number of bananas I have on my desk.

For TV presenters it must be worse. Trying to listen to feedback, interview people and react to data on screens, yet appear professional to the viewers who don't hear or understand the turmoil in the background must be very difficult.

Doubt it will get much live coverage then. BBC One and ITV started Pointless/The Chase and it doesn't seem significant enough to interrupt them.

Choosing 5.40 however means whatever it is can be reported in the 6pm newshour.

What a waste of time - why bring out the podium in front of Number 10 for a non statement? Only big events like the death of the Queen or calling a general election should be made in front of Number 10.
