Just heard Glen Allen voice a somewhat belated tribute link into tonight's 11pm episodes (the start of series 8, conicidentally)

Looks like today’s episode of The Chase has been recorded to go out today. Shaun Wallace just give a plug for The Oscars being back on ITV this Sunday. The contestants first names are all the same of that of Oscar winners as pointed at by Wallace.

It's certainly got more recent references than other "new" episodes that have aired lately such as Twitter becoming X and Alison Hammond joining Bake Off.

The Chase has quite a lot of episodes in the can, moreso than other shows.

Citing a 'senior source' at Stellify, The Mirror claims Who Wants to Be a Millionaire will be recommissioned with Clarkson at the helm:

Tonight's Mastermind semi-final is very Gladiators-esque. One of the previous round's winners was unavailable to take part, so the highest scoring runner-up appeared in his place.

And then he went on to win the show. There probably has been a format where a loser could have reached the final in the past, but must be very rare.

I'm not the only one seeing the similarity

Not the only similarity. It won't take long to come down.

His codename The Creator sounds like a Time Lord name too.

I wonder if those similarities also exist in the original South Korean version?
