RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - Ash101 - 30-03-2023

BBC One has announced 'The Finish Line' which is coming later on this year, hosted by Roman Kemp & Sarah Green - it's a 25 episode order.

Curious to see this is being filmed in Belfast, odd choice of host considering Roman is in London daily for his Capital Breakfast show.

What a random combination.

Just doing a quick look over on UK Gameshows. Wouldn't this become Potato's first ever commission for the BBC?

RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - tellyblues - 30-03-2023

I suspect it will be filmed in Northern Ireland because of the BBC's regional quota and probably some NI funding behind it.

Seems like it. The only non-ITV show listed is Four Weddings, which aired on Sky Living.

However, 12 Yard is owned by ITV as well, and they have done BBC shows.

I'd say with 12 Yard the thing is that they were established under Hat Trick and then later sold to ITV Studios rather than being a direct creation under the Studios umbrella.

I know they're best known for Eggheads, but they didn't stop doing new BBC shows after ITV took them over though. Catchpoint and Unbeatable are theirs, and those are recent.

Lightning was filmed in Belfast as well.

Potato have made non ITV shows, they used to do documentaries for Channel 5 but they stopped doing that in favour of gameshows.

Joel Dommett's In With A Shout to debut ITV Sat 8th April, same night as last episode of this run of Takeaway and the final of Starstruck. Meanwhile, over on BBC1 is Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves from 1991 and Pointless Celebrities.
