RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - tellyblues - 05-12-2023

Info posted elsewhere that Jeopardy is to launch New Year's Day (Monday) and Wheel of Fortune on January 6th (Sat).

So, Catchphrase to make way for WoF and Password to take the Starstruck slot in February? Although, it has been described as being suited to a watershed slot but post-SNT would be too early???

RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - Score - 05-12-2023

I think Password might be replacing The John Bishop Show, which isn’t returning this January.

Just to confirm from the recording sessions Graham Norton has no co-host - the letters just reveal themselves.

Second hand info I'm afraid.  What was the top prize on offer?

I cannot divulge this information, sorry.

RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - Juicy Joe - 05-12-2023

To be honest, I don't know what the top prize was on the recording of the UK version of the show.

Hmm, not sure how I feel about that. I think it’s nice to see some rapport between co-hosts on a show like that. Some people think it’s outdated, but it’s just modelling at the end of the day. And The US still has Vanna.

I guess the reason is that they couldn’t think of a “celebrity” to be the assisting, forgetting that the likes of Angela Ekaette or Carol Smilie weren’t celebrities at the time of landing these gigs. It’s another one of those cases of TV being too afraid to take risks on an unknown.

RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - what - 06-12-2023

I just think it's a poor attitude generally. If they aren't willing to give unknowns a chance, eventually we'll run out of celebrities to host these things, and what will they do then?
