Even the American version has only still got one because the one doing that job, Vanna White, is the same hostess they've had since the 1980s. If she left, I doubt she'd be replaced, since the job became obsolete in the 90s when they no longer needed to manually spin the letter tiles, which instead are now electronic screens.

Though they did do a couple of them in the original run, way back in 1988! Plus a couple of Scotland-only (until Challenge showed them anyway) Hogmanay specials that I guess count too.

"Celebrity" versions of things used to be rarer than hen's teeth, and usually only often occurred for a show's Christmas Special. They wouldn't go anywhere near it at any other time of the year.
These days? Well as we saw when civilian episodes of something doesn't rate they make more celebrity specials which do rate. the Crystal Maze revival did this...

The set looks really good - best gameshow set in quite some time.
I hope this is good but I fear the stretch to an hour will hurt it more than most shows and after Jeopardy I'm even more worried they'll base it more on the US version than the original UK version, especially the end game where they're practically given nearly half the alphabet.
Unbelievable really this is Graham's first primetime game show.

Look how that turned out...
I think launching a show with a celebrity special undermines the format as if it isn't good enough on its own and it gives audiences a reason not to watch civilian episodes because they can prefer the show with celebs.
As for WoF, if it does well, ITV can air a celeb special to prove its "cred", and if it doesn't, they can cut their losses with the specials they already have and pave the way for celeb-only editions in future. Reverting to these won't be too much of a problem when they're also filming the Australian show on the set.
