RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - Andrew - 27-01-2024

Some people have compared parts of The Traitors to the old ITV game show Goldenballs

So maybe Goldenballs should be brought back?

That sort of mean game show went out of favour but seems to be now back in favour

Perhaps a reality spin off ‘Golden Balls Island’?

Go the whole hog and bring back Shafted.

In fact I understand the original Dutch version and the Australian Series 2 which just dropped on iPlayer use the split or steal mechanic for their endgame

I think all people remember of Shafted is that clip of Robert Kilroy Silk doing the action.

Goldenballs was apparently made by Initial, so presumably that means the format would now be owned via umpteen mergers and acquisitions by Banijay

It wasn't original when Goldenballs did it. It's not really clear who owns it

Judging by the schedule for the last series of The Wheel I’d imagine it’ll continue after Big Show has finished (although I could be wrong but I’m sure there was one year where they aired simultaneously)

RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - tellyblues - 28-01-2024

Because of the rugby this coming Saturday, Gladiators starts later. ITV have shunted their lineup back so WoF starts half an hour earlier.

4.00 Rugby
7.10 Gladiators
8.10 Big Show
9.10 Casualty

5.25 Wheel of Fortune
6.25 The Masked Singer
8.00 Limitless Win
9.00 It'll Be Alright On The Night

Think it's the last Limitless Win next week too. Given what they've been promoting the fairly big win last night felt a little bit insignificant.

Anyone know what ITV are putting in the slot the week after - has been Starstruck the last couple of years but that's been axed and can't think of any other shows that have been announced.

There's usually a live poll running where you can give your thoughts on various gameshow related matters.

Might as well edit and include ratings for last night!

I know you didn't mean to spoil it for people but most of us had less than 24 hours to watch all 10 hours of it in the UK when this post was made so a spoiler tag would have been good. I've not seen any of it yet but knowing the outcome spoils it a bit before it even begins (another poster on the traitors thread has also posted the outcome of the end game this morning)
