Im so happy SkyNews is adding colour and warming up their studios and presentation spaces. Its long overdue.
I get what you're saying and to an extent, I agree. A newsroom backdrop can give a news channel or operation more of an air of credibility than a studio of screens, but on the flip side, having screens present can and does help with presentation of stories, and honestly, I think any set design that can do that will really help a news channel.

It's less about seeing who is working there and more about does it look good and does it feel fresh. After years of them largely presenting in front of video walls it does. It can work the other way too with a switch from a newsroom backdrop to video wall based studio, but get it wrong and that won't work.
Basically what is old becomes new again.

Well that's why what Sky had in early 2000s was so perfect. A newsroom with a big newswall, right in the middle of it, incorporating both of these important elements (live work environment + story graphics). We haven't seen anything like this, on any other news channel really, though Sky tried it with their 2005 relunch but it was not as effective.

I much preferred the 2005 set before the one before it - don't think we'll ever see anything like that in UK news again.

I'd be shocked if Murdoch purchased Sky News back, he would be better off taking on GB News as that is much more free flow and he can mold it into a proper outfit. If he did take Sky News back, i'd imagine it would be part of the deal for the transition to News UK Studios, and possibly a license to use the Sky name for a period. I can't see him taking Sky news back but who knows. Comcast only promosed to fund it until the late 2020s.

Sadly her intro was cut off by a blooper at the start. It looked like they played out an earlier recording of Niall coming off the back of the break and crashed midway into the review.

I find unlikely that NBC Comcast would let SkyNews go. They migh truncate it or put it on a tight budget, but sell it back? Hmmm I cant see it. Its such a valuable asset and really deep international bolster for NBC News. They might dump TG24 before they get rid of SkyNews. Personally I think they are itching to get back the branding license for SkyNews Australia. Thankfully the channel doesnt yet have wide international appeal outside of Australia. But if that changes...hmmmm. Bears watching.
I think more like GBN/TalkTv merger. Building a conservative/right outlet with a fresh name rather than trying to go back and re-shape SkyNews. Just my personal speculations.

If ever Comcast get the Australian branding back from Murdoch, it's likely they'll just rebrand as Australia Channel, the brand Sky News Australia use overseas.
