It does seem like news organizations favour Jerusalem for Middle East coverage like they do for Beijing for Asia, London for Europe and Washington for the Americas. But it is also in the middle of where most stories from that region comes from.
Sky previously had a Dubai-based Middle East Correspondent in addition to Jerusalem in the past. I think it was Ashish Joshi.

They've been a great substitute since the BBC merger until they blocked the YT stream in Canada. No satellite or cable company is carrying Sky News. What I find offensive this time is that it's not geoblocked in Australia anymore. It was blocked a few weeks ago though. Last time they blocked nearly every country but it's just Canada this time and a few minor countries.

Trevor Phillips is coming from the glass box this morning rather than Westminster.

It seems he’s decamped there for the time being. Niall’s show was still from Westminster, but the outgoing studio. Will that stay in Westminster or move to Sky Centre.

RE: Sky News - SB678 - 21-01-2024

Seem to be a few problems on Sky right now. They froze on a graphic during the top story and since then there haven't been any graphics at all! No ticker, names during reports, anything. Most reports seem to be going out fine, though they did skip a piece from James Matthews because of "problems with the connection".

EDIT: All graphics appear to have returned after an ad break.

The World with Yalda Hakim launched at 9pm. Studio looks stunning.

RE: Sky News - RJLD24 - 22-01-2024

The studio looks fantastic in the wide shots, but the close-up headshot of Yalda makes the backdrop look quite messy.

Also not a massive fan of the | in the headline strap. Either use the silver description strap for the headline like Politics Hub and UK Tonight, or drop the title from the strap and just have the headline with 'The World' graphics as the background.

Which studio ? I see three screens and a plain desk. Very weak opening no ToTH as with the other evening shows. Just creates the feeling something is missing. Disappointing as this not only lacks an opening but also comes from the weakest of their sets. The new breakfast show is just perfect. Best studio and opening + graphics. Sadly I cannot watch during mornings .

Feels very CNN primetime. Premium look, very editorialised but in a neutral way.

A very refreshing change from Sky's previous attempts at 'branding' shows (and indeed the BBC News) which were just the same headlines read out in front of a different background.

RE: Sky News - ginnyfan - 22-01-2024

Sky really has a perfect schedule and prime time now with a block of UK politics/UK news/World news, surrounded by rolling news. Their breakfast slot is finally fixed as well, daytime has rolling news and business. The channel is back on top.

I had never seen Yalda host her own programme before but she is excellent. Very knowledgeable and a great interviewer. Really impressed so far.
