RE: Sky News - leewilliams - 11-08-2023

Some titbits on the revised autumn lineup on Sky News:

- The new flagship Yalda Hakim foreign news programme will go out at 9pm and is just an hour long (start date still TBC)
- Immediately before it, Sarah-Jane Mee will do an hour of UK news at 8pm, starting in mid-September
- As a result, Kamali Melbourne is taking over the afternoon slot (to be rebadged Sky News Today as per the mid-morning show)
- Niall Paterson will make a permanent return to the airwaves with a regular Friday evening show
- Breakfast is staying as Breakfast, with no Sunrise reversion

Shame about no Sunrise reversion. Sky News Today across daytime makes perfect sense. Bit surprised Yalda will only get an hour, unless she'll continue to do as she does now and serve as an anchor/field correspondent when required.

Nice to see that Niall is heading back to the channel. Whilst the podcasts are great, he's been a little wasted there.

It's accurate.

I'm hoping this will be a World News Today-style programme as it'd be nice to have a proper structured international news bulletin in the evenings again. So long as it steers clear of talking heads and panel discussions, I'll be in.

RE: Sky News - harshy - 11-08-2023

So Yalda gets paid more to do one hours work well no wonder she jumped ship.

RE: Sky News - KatsKaravan - 11-08-2023

Presumably the new weekday schedule will look something like this:

5am The Early Rundown with a revolving cast of presenters
7am Breakfast with Kay Burley
10am Sky News Today with Wilfred Frost
11.30am Business Live with Ian King
12pm Sky News Today with Jayne Secker
2pm Sky News Today with Kamali Melbourne
4.30pm Business Live with Ian King again
5pm The News Hour/At Six with Mark Austin
7pm Politics Hub with Sophy Ridge
8pm UK news show with Sarah-Jane Mee
9pm World news with Yalda Hakim
10pm Sky News at Ten/Press Preview with Anna Botting
12am Sky News overnight with whomever

And as above on Friday except with Niall Paterson from 8-10pm?

RE: Sky News - UTVLifer - 11-08-2023

It'll be nice to have Niall back in a regular slot.

Sarah Jane Mee moving to the evenings is an interesting move, but I do think the way she approaches stories from more human angle usually will help to balance out the heaviness of Sophy's politics show and Yalda's international news hour

Sarah Jane’s new ‘show’ is going to be called “The UK”. Sounds like a more pointed attempt to take on GB News in that Jacob Rees-Mogg slot.

Also Niall Paterson’s slot is 7-10 on Friday.
