RE: Sky News - Brekkie - 11-10-2023

Absolutely - it could have been handled better but it was significant breaking news from the world of entertainment.

One thing though other stories around yesterday though means though is that news has been kept in proportion unlike events earlier in the summer. It's news, but not something to run with for the majority of the hour for hours on end - it's a story to break, recap, analyse briefly and then run a report on, not to roll with continuously.

Seems to be a conscious decision to use push-back type graphics and split screens most of the time now on Sky. It serves its purpose but it’s a shame they’ve moved away from the minimalist style they adopted at one point in 2010 (I think). The initial HD-only graphics were lovely.

Wasn't Niall's show supposed to start today? It's currently Jonathan Samuels presenting from the Newsroom for... some reason?

Studio change and Emma Crosby now

RE: Sky News - Orry Verducci - 13-10-2023

As unusual as it was, it was quite refreshing to see Jonathan presenting from the newsroom. It's a much more visually interesting backdrop than the glass box or the studio.

They should consider using it more often, or using a newsroom-esque backdrop in the studios.

It certainly is a change of visuals for basically a channel thats become quite visually staid.
I do like the idea of maybe doing newsroom hour regularly. Change up the visuals.
Im a presentation person, so I think in the spot over his left shoulder they could put a SkyNews logo on the wall. Maybe a few uplights for visual interest just behind the DTL position. Wouldnt be a massive expensive. It would be nice if they had a video ribbon installed in the back ground. With the ticker data scrolling. it would be blurred, so it probably wouldn't be that distracting. Just needs a little something else. But what a good change.

Not sure that’s fair. It looks better than it has done for a while. Politics Hub and The UK Tonight both look great in particular.
