RE: Premier League Coverage - Rdd - 12-01-2024

Pretty unusual for TNT to have an FAPL match on a Friday night but they’ve got Burnley v Luton tonight, must be a first outside of the holiday period.

Edit; also Chelsea v Fulham and Newcastle v Man City tomorrow. Is there a reason for the two extra games?

(Further edit to answer my own question, it’s the split round over two weekends, as a winter break).

This was actually due to be Monday night on TNT Sport but was moved due to Luton's FA Cup replay. The note below was on the fixture announcement from the Premier League

Premier League Wrote:****Should either club be involved in an FA Cup replay, this match will move to 19:45 on Friday 12 January, live on TNT Sports. Should either club be involved in an FA Cup replay and Burnley also be involved in the EFL Cup semi-finals, the match will be played at 12:00 on Sunday 14 January, live on TNT Sports.

Has the world feed always had that text DOG in the bottom right (not a regular world feed viewer, just watching the Bundesliga highlights on ARD)? Is a bit unnoticeable, not sure that is a really bad trait for a DOG to have.

Anyone any idea why Final Score wasn’t in BBC One this evening?

Only two premier league games today due to the winter break and neither were at 3pm

But yes a bit poor when the other leagues had a full set of fixtures

It’s the same next week so it’s not on next Saturday either

Is there any point in having a programme if you have no access to footage (like the BBC with the EFL)?

There was a "5Live Final Score" solely on the iPlayer/Red Button and it was reporters "around the grounds", as the BBC does not have national radio commentary rights for Championship games.

RE: Premier League Coverage - Brekkie - 14-01-2024

They can't show footage anyway and usually feature a dedicated reporter rounding up the football league and the odd report from the grounds too, plus reaction to the lunchtime Premier League kick-off and the team news of the evening kick-off so they could easily have filled the BBC1 slot, but the full 2 hours might have been tricky.

It's just not a good look though for the BBC - it's bad enough they do it on international weekends but usually the Championship is also suspended for them too so that is more understandable.

I could be wrong here but wasn't the idea to have the Premier League lion DOG on screen at all times just above that text as it allowed for prosecution against pub owners for showing the 3PM games as it was trademark infringement?

Don't know where I've got idea from if it's not true. But if so with the new graphics they've moved it to the scorebar so no need for that text anymore.

The Premier League has announced the schedule for the first weekend of March. A bit strange for only one week's fixtures to be published; I haven't seen any reason why.

Oddly again, like the reverse in October, the Manchester derby has put the Super Sunday schedule an hour earlier than normal with 13:00 and 15:30 kick-offs.

And with little more than a month's notice, the rest of March's televised fixtures have been announced.

Sunday March 9th has another change to the normal Super Sunday schedule - a 1300 and then a 1545(!) kick-off for Liverpool v. Man City. Are police being extra cautious this year, because I can't remeber that fixture having trouble before and there feels like there has been an increase in the number of matches pushed from Sunday 1630?
