Well would look quite political if they didn't. That may be less of an issue for them moving into the next contract period anyway.
Salary wise presumably given what they've justified paying Gary anyone stepping into his role would be expected to be close to that anyway - and if was was Gabby Logan for example considering she is of similar experience it would not be a good look to offer her less than the man in the role before her.

aha, that would make sense. I don't think there was anything that said that one of the midweeks had to be the New Year's Day set, but it was a good gimmick for the first season of the rights deal - especially on the back of Amazon's two midweeks in the prior month.
Of course, having started in 2019/20, there's not really been a 'normal' season since them, what with Covid and the World Cup, and I think BT found that trying to do match and pres coverage of 9 matches on the same day is no mean feat. I can see the appeal in them spreading them out a bit - not least because it means you're not cannibalising your own audience by showing several simultaneous matches.

Sky have won four packages of games totalling 215 games and TNT have won the fifth and final package. Amazon out of the picture.

TNT retaining the 12:30 slot, the other weekend slots remain on Sky.

A real shame Amazon lose PL rights as their coverage, although on two weeks a year, has been excellent. Of course they have one Champions League game a week from next year.

The Sky deal includes all first picks, simultaneous Sunday 2pm kick offs, the flagship 4.30pm slot and Fri/Mon games, plus three full midweek rounds and all final day games.
Presumably TNT have one of the Saturday slots.

Presumably more goal clips etc. as they can't show any match action on socials/BBC Sport website clips at the moment I think. Maybe they can only show clips from a later point and of a limited length not to clash with the Sky's YouTube package (presuming that is still a thing goibg forward)?

The obvious question from here is how much more money is being payed to the Premier League, and by extension how much of any increase will be passed onto consumers?
I haven't seen many rumours of new entrants being aggressively interested (reports that Apple did not bid a few weeks ago for example), so I doubt Sky and TNT might not have been spooked to bid excessively more like when they did in BT Sport's second auction.
Sky claim they can now show 70% more games, but the value of this increase won't be particularly massive with the majority of these games clashing with each other. I do wonder how flexible Sky can be now: say yesterday could they have promoted Liverpool v. Fulham to the main channels ahead of West Ham v. Crystal Palace instead of it being a bonus game?
I presume the Irish Saturday 3pm will be announced closer to the time the rest of the international rights are confirmed rather than this week?
