The fact Scott Mills is only a smidge down from Steve Wright and younger as well means the BBC's decision to drop Steve Wright was the right one and TBH they should have done it years ago.

I actually like the new TOTH jingles but I wish they’d been recorded consistently. Some are timed perfectly so the voices run up to the logo, others crash it slightly which is irritating.
Pick one or the other but be consistent. It just smacks of “that’ll do”.
Other than that they sound modern but still distinctly Radio 2.

I agree. I think they’re quite nice.
How long was the previous one in use, including the reworks? I definitely remember it in the late 90s, albeit with the slightly different melody.
What was the reason for the melody change too? I remember the day it changed, it was very odd - like the old one had gone a bit wrong.

I haven't warmed to it yet. The Radio 2 logo at the end just seems very rushed.
There are all those different voices and that smartspeaker noise... and at the end it almost seems as if they ran out of time for the actual logo because of it. So they crammed it all into one second. And worse still, the voiceover even crashes the beginning of the jingle.

However that sort of thing happens organically and presumably would cost more. I imagine his show is a lot cheaper that Steve's was.

It does go to show again though that generally people are more loyal to stations than presenters, I know Steve didn't go to another station but there hasn't been a mass slump in audience as some predicted. The same when Simon Mayo and Chris Evans left - they didn't take their big audience figures with them and Radio 2 didn't see a big drop.
Whether the same happens with Ken Bruce we'll see in 3 months, I suspect it'll be a similar story.

Just going back to the new jingles, and how we've probably lost Liza Tarbuck's unusual intros to the news. I need to share the one that really made me laugh after a rough day at work. Don't know why this one tickled me in particular (probably how she went through the five stages of grief in about two seconds), but I need to share it.

Hopefully he will now be allowed to cut loose a bit and really make the show his own.

Also a thing that I think has helped a lot in this instance is that his fans from over on Radio 1 have followed him over. So whatever depletion of listenership that occurred when they - the eternal naysayers and doommongers that I proverbially bang my head against an imaginary wall at - said "that's it I'm off" doesn't seem to have come to pass.
As I have have said over on the Blue Bird Place when responding to this and I quote:

They’re getting it spot on at Radio 2 when it comes to on air talent I think. We now have a very 00s Radio 1 mix of presenters which is exactly where the audience is. Cox / Kay / Mills / Whiley are all in the right spots. I’d say the breakfast show is the weak link and feels like it pitches slightly differently to the rest of the line up - more mass audience, it feels very school run rather than work commute. Not sure it’ll change any time soon though.
