I watched a bit of the BBC Alba coverage of Scotland v. Netherlands on Tuesday and noticed that their sports graphics have adopted the network style! A nice Alba variation with the colour gradient used for event-specific colours (e.g. green/purple on the Wimbledon coverage) is the same shade of blue as the BBC Alba logo, with the BBC Alba saltire appearing in the top left corner. One thing of note is that I don't think the graphics are biliungual anymore (unlike the commentary) - everything I saw flicking through was English only.

A nice variation on the network graphics. Their previous graphics would have looked basic 20 years ago I think, so nice that they are (a) in line with the rest of the BBC and (b) not looking as antiquated as before.

A nice variation but I still find these BBC Sport graphics so cheap and tacky compared to what they had before.

Rugby union rights pick ups for Sky Sports are now a very rare event. Even so, it probably won’t come as a surprise that they’ll once again be covering the Lions tour in 2025.

The BBC will show Great Britain vs Sweden in the Billie Jean King Cup play-offs on 11-12 November, and Great Britain vs Serbia in the Davis Cup quarterfinals on 23 November. They will show the semifinal on 25 should GB get through, and the final on 26 November regardless of who plays.

Just to add, the Billie Jean Cup Finals in Seville will be on Tennis Channel International next week (listings have appeared this evening on the app).

During half time at the Premiership Rugby on TNT, and I flicked over to ITV4 to look at the FA cup. I've noticed the word "SPORT" on the desk pitchside, is a different font to that on the graphics, or the windshields on the microphones. The graphics are the same as last season, green colour, and not the ones being used on the snooker.

BBC Three will be showing the Copa Libertadores final between Fluminese and Boca Juniors once again on Saturday night. Steven Wyeth will be commentating, so the BBC will be producing their own coverage rather than just the world feed.

The FA Cup second round draw on Sunday will be at around 2:15 after Chesterfield v. Portsmouth. Something that I missed from the original announcment is that Sunday's second game, Crewe v. Derby will be exclusive to ITVX, so another step into the live streaming only sphere with ITVX's first exclusive football match. Will be interesting to see if that is a full programme with studio and pundits etc., or just a commentary-only production.

An additional TV match to the original selections. Mansfield v. Wrexham, will be on S4C at 7:45 on Saturday. Crucially this also means that the now world famous Wrexham will be shown internationally. Bristol Rovers v. Whitby (Saturday), Slough Town v. Grimsby Town and Kidderminster Harriers v. Fleetwood Town (Sunday) are also full OBs shown elsewhere.

Also, a bit of an unusual kick-off time for the BBC live game on Saturday (Bromley v. Blackpool) at 5:45.

I tuned in a few minutes late and thought Sheppey had had an early red card with the shirt colour indicator being a line of red over their three letter code. A bit awkward. Not sure if it would be any less likely to be confused by if the colour indictors were along the bottom like the old BBC scoreboard.

The Wales v. Barbarians rugby match sees the return of the Autumn Nations Cup / ad hoc internationals hosted by Six Nations sides graphics, which are much nicer than most other graphics from the Six Nations Ltd.

The world feed commentary is the S4C red button commentary rather than the usual suspects on the Six Nations/Autumn Nations Series world feed. So it appears it is a bit of halfway house between a match under Six Nations contract and branding and a WRU/S4C production.

The nicest graphics ever to come out of Six Nations Rugby IMHO. Everything else is either ten years old (the main Six Nations graphics which now must be one of the longest lasting graphics in sport, at least among those still in use) or garish (basically everything else).

A positive u-turn from DAZN, with them increasing the number of free UEFA Women's Champions League matches available this season. After the last two seasons had every game shown for free on YouTube, the plan was that to be significantly decreased from this season down to 19 out of 61.
Today they announced that now all group stage games will be shown for free. Initially this will be again on YouTube, though after matchday 4 this will be via the DAZN app/platforms only.

There is a mention of some matches being geoblocked in some territories like France and Germany, so I would guess there has been subletting agreements like was seen on last year's final (on the likes of ZDF in Germany). There is now a DAZN Women's Football FAST channel on Samsung TV Plus (and a combat sports one) that I think was announced as showing some matches live as well.

Have to agree. I had thought the Guinness sponsorship agreement for the men's Six Nations had expired so I was hoping for a long awaited graphics revamp next year, but there is actually a year left on that deal. I think there's also only a year left on the current TV rights cycle, so I fear the decade old graphics will limp on for another year.
