Another DAZN headline is that SportsBusiness is reporting that their worldwide deal to broadcast the IPL cricket is set to be terminated early.

Sadly, I have no access to the paywall, and other sites haven't picked the story up yet, so I can't see why this would be. This year's tournament did have many last-minute subletting agreements with traditional cricket broadcasters (e.g Sky in the UK, SuperSport in South Africa).

The Allianz Premiership Women's Rugby (formerly the Premier 15s) will be broadvast on TNT Sports this season, with one game a week live. No mention if this in addition to the previous weekly games on the Premier 15s website/BBC Sport website or the FTA coverage has now subsequently ended.

To answer my own questions, the one game a week on TNT Sports will be the only linear broadcasted match, but all other matches can be streamed by the clubs. The BBC deal expired at the end of last season, but the current deal allows the semi-finals and finals to be simukcasted on FTA TV, and they are hopeful of a FTA deal in future.

So this deal currently means less FTA TV exposure, but a better quality broadcast product.

Mick McCarthy is on as a pundit alongside Richard Dunne on Virgin Media's UEFA Champions League coverage of FC Copenhagen vs Manchester United this evening.

Although I know they've had more success outside of the UK I don't really think DAZN has broken through into the sports broadcasting market in the manner they initially looked like they might be able to.

I'm sure it was this year that the likes of the EFL and PL declined to tender any of their games to DAZN, deciding to stick with Sky & TNT instead. DAZN were also wanting to impose dropping the ridiculous "3PM Blackout" in the UK too.

The PL rights have not yet been awarded and I don’t think the PL are in the business of excluding any potentially serious bidder before they’ve even tabled a bid and I wouldn’t rule out at this point Dazn making one. There’s always been one surprise at every PL rights auction.

However nor are Dazn, who don’t at present hold any rights to English football, in the position to dictate the FA their policy in relation to requesting blocked hours from UEFA.

FA Cup TV selections for the first round replays and the second round below. Once again, another game is on ITV X only (Wrexham v. Yeovil); those two teams only get £20 000 as a broadcast fee, whilst the linearly broadcasted teams receive £60 000 each. With the BBC airing a Saturday lunchtime game, this means that each match will be aired on different channels to each other.

First round replays next week on ITV 4 and BBC Two:

Second round on the weekend of December 1st-4th acriss BBC One, BBC Two, ITV 1/STV, ITV X and ITV 4:

Really enjoyed the ICC Cricket Wc coverage from India, even though produced by Disney/Star they must have taken the staff from Sunset and Vine as it’s been produced to really excellent standards, I just wish one day Sky can take the energy from these broadcasts and put it to their own cricket coverage which seems to lack it for me.

I guess the lower cost to stream rather than broadcast justifies it then - ITV don't think they'd make an extra £80k by broadcasting the game on ITV4, or at least think the value in driving people to ITVX exceeds anythng else they could make by giving it a broadcast slot.

Was is just match coverage of the ITVX game in the last round or did they have presentation on site too?
